The game is definitely worth recommending.
The gameplay is good, though not outstanding. Shooting is fun, and I didn't find the game overly difficult as long as you manage your resources a bit. I played on the hardcore difficulty setting.
Stealth felt very easy because the enemies generally have movement patterns that are quite simple to avoid – and I'm saying this as someone who is absolutely terrible at stealth games.

The atmosphere in the first half of the game was somewhat disappointing to me. While the environments and so on are impressive, I didn't find the enemy groups very fitting. The fish cult was amusing, but the cannibals felt so unoriginal and over-the-top that I couldn’t take the situation seriously at all.
I expected more tension, which the game couldn’t deliver for me, even with its overall presentation.
In the second half, the game improves atmospherically, giving me some goosebump moments and fully drawing me in.
Visually, it’s very well done, although the character faces leave something to be desired.
It’s a bit buggy, and I experienced three crashes, but they were easily resolved with a restart.

Just to be clear, it's fundamentally a good game. I had fun with it at times.

However, there are several aspects that prevent me from fully enjoying it. Firstly, there's the game and level design. The game gives the impression that you have the option to either sneak around or go in guns blazing. But this is only truly possible in some sections. In the rest, it's often the level design that dictates a shootout. This illusion of freedom, only to have it taken away, really annoyed me at times.

The second factor is harder to break down. It bothers me that the game creates such an absurd over-the-top third reich scenario, and the narrative counterpoint to this is American jingoism and big explosions? Even a few forced love scenes and some characters, to whom you don't form any real connection due to the lack of proper context, don't help.

So much more could be extracted from such a scenario than the dumbest level possible, even without being particularly deep. All in all, it's a good stupid shooter that lacks the gameplay freedom when it truly needed it. However, I can understand if others feel differently.

Overall, a very good game.
The gameplay is fun, and you constantly learn new abilities throughout most of the game, which have a significant impact. Just when I felt it might get a bit boring, something interesting happened again.
The level design is good. Sometimes it can be a bit monotonous with the administrative building corridors, but there are also moments and levels that are simply stunning.
I understand the criticism that the characters and story seem uninspired, but I didn't find it that bad.
While you understand more by the end of the story, many questions remain unanswered.
Since gameplay and creative level sections are the main focus for me in this game, I think the story is good enough and provides a meaningful framework for the fun gameplay.

It's a good game. I liked it.
The visuals are very appealing.
But...
the levels are standard hallways and stuff most of the time.
It doesn't quite reach the class of my personal favorite boomer shooters like Dusk or Amid Evil.
The pacing of the good music seems off sometimes.
Also there is no punish for dying as there is no reset after respawning, which adds to the pace but also makes it meaningless most of the time.
When it comes too difficulty, there seems to be no middle ground between being easy and spamming you with AOE and explosives.
All in all I found it a bit too easy on 2. highest difficulty, while not really generating motivation to master the hard parts.
Also the first shotgun was sooo OP in the first levels of the game, why did they make it a sniper. I never saw something like this. :0
I didn't mess with the workshop because there are so many games one could play.

That being said, I still recommend it by a long shot.
