Didnt much play the originals, but great game on its own. I really enjoy the old school rts mechanics and random skirmish matches, and while similar in many respects to AOE, you know, its different. So thats good.

Game is definately buggy as ****, crashes, needs more weapons, etc. With that said, I found that with patience, constant saving, and a drink on hand, it's extremely enjoyable. The historical accuracy (History Channel level of standards, so good enough anyway lol) is really refreshing, and its awesome to play through and see scenarios that we've otherwise only read about. The story line and plot twists are exiting and engaging despite the aforementioned bugs, and its a much diffrent play style battle wise than previous M&B games which breaks the monotony, such as newly incorporated stamina, character sizes, etc. aswell as less emphasis on mounted combat, as we have all spent countless hours riding nauseatingly in circles trying to smack the enemy with a sword... In conclusion, there are many great new features that truly refresh the franchise and while the game severely needs polishing, I didnt feel it was overall unplayable and I have faith they'll fix it. Im not a hardcore gamer by any standard and have logged more hours into the M&B franchise than any other game Ive ever played, combined! Some people may want to wait a little while for things to get smoothed out, but if you can tolerate its current short comings, its well worth the $15>. *Side note: Still more player friendly than fire & Sword...
