First off, fantastic game marred but modern AAA title problems. The game may be suffering from network problems (same as xbox one) and for people picking up the game is a huge issue not being able to take part in multiplayer hunts, but even with the xbox launch the network issues did get corrected in time.

As for game performance i run an ancient yet rather high end machine from 2011.

3960x at 4.6
32 gigs of ddr3 1866.
Titan X maxwell (think 1070)
Evo 850 pro ssd.

Even though the core is 7 years old, i was able to run the game at 60ish fps on 1440p with most settings maxed out (volumetric lighting is a hog on resources, so turn it off) and I will agree with others that being a pc title, there is far too little configuration settings for various aspects such as graphics, sound, input, etc. But performance was less of an issue than i expected.

As for the game itself, the experience on pc is still more enjoyable to me than on console due to framerate and load times. 2 seconds to load anything is great while also having high framrate with mostly max visual settings make this title more enjoyable compared to the console versions.

The gameplay is what you might expect for a monster hunter veteran, But for the new players, monster hunter is a game that focuses on player position and timing to be effective in combat. Weapons are generally slow and ponderous and require commitment to make a hit. Learning the monsters movesets and tells will be the best way to be an effective hunter. Knowing when to attack or evade is just as important as upgrading your gear.

The world is wonderfully detailed with amazing scenery and interesting locales to view. Each of the many maps have far reaching themes from jungle to volcanic craters and everything in between. Monster hunter world introduced many ways to interact with the environment which added a new dynamic to the hunt where depending on the location you may be able to take advantage of various map hazards to snare, damage or otherwise affect the target. As for the monster new and old lots of updates were made.

The creatures still use the same skeleton rigging from older games but the animations are far more fluid and detailed giving a more life like appearence to the creatures that animate realistically. The monsters also have a life of their own, and they will go about there lives, foraging for food, water, fighting with other large monsters and a mutlitude of interesting interactions with the world itself.

All things considered Monster Hunter World is a fantastic experience that is marred by some network issues that will be corrected in time.
