This is a fun game! Easy to learn, challenging to master.

Took me a few runs to finally understand all of the mechanics and finally beat it on Classic difficulty. The combination of RNG with consistent AI feels just about right so far; every run has its up and downs, but you know what to expect and how to react to new but different scenarios. It does have the occasional hiccup though; in one of my runs, I had assembled a great deck, cleanly made it up to the very last level, where i was unceremoniously murdered in the first turn because my movement card was a shift, but I was dropped into a corner with a double line of Bosses on two sides, with a wall and a ledge on the other sides. It was very frustrating yet funny at the same time.

The key seems to be focusing on control (grapple, push, redirect) and movement (slip, shift) cards, because in the higher levels, your direct damage cards simply can't keep up, but the enemies damage output scales with their HP, so it's just more effective to turn them against each other. Deck size is also important, keep it small (under 40 cards), upgrade what you have, and skip most of the useless cards offered at the end of every level.

Since it's an early access game, it is missing some quality-of-life stuff you'd expect in a deckbuilding turn-based game like this, like a UI display of Turn Order, as well as some kind of card stacking or sorting option (by alphabetical order, damage, cost, type etc) in the Deck display, and maybe some post-game stat tracking in addition to the score (total kills, kill types, hp lost/gained etc).

This is one of, if not the best, realistic WW2 shooters I've had the pleasure of playing. The learning curve was steep and painful compared to previous games I've played in this genre, but it's very rewarding once you get into the ebb and flow of the mechanics at work. Cover is your friend, and your friends are cover.
