Fun game with solid gameplay mechanics that has that weird thing where you turn it off and after 15 minutes you want to play it again.

It does take a while to get proficient at the game though since the traversal mechanics are intertwined with the combat mechanics and both are challenging since the different enemy types all require a different strategy. This isn't a simple run and gun shooter. Gameplay videos on youtube make it look way simpler than it actually is. Story is good with some genuinely funny moments. It's been a while since a game legit made me laugh out loud but there's some hilarious moments which I won't spoil here.

It's worth mentioning that the game is pretty CPU heavy right now though. With the game set to the highest preset minus RT it still managed to bottleneck my 12700K at 1440p using a RTX 3080. I saw 84% usage of the GPU meaning my CPU wasn't able to keep pace. Just something to keep in mind.

All in all for me it's a solid 7.5 / 10 so far.

Long story short. They nailed it. A must purchase for fans of the franchise. That said. As things stand there are the typical Unreal Engine technical issues that need to be fixed in the PC version. Shader stutter is rampant. Games like Gotham Knights and Callisto Protocol have shown these issues CAN be mostly fixed but for now you’re goung to have to deal with irratic performance. I play on a 12700K/32gb/RTX3080 and even on 1080p low graphical preset the game stutters. For now you’re better off eirher playing the Series X or PS5 version or hold off on a PC version purchase until it’s fixed. Game itself is amazing though.

Started out rough from a technical perspective but has vastly improved since. Doesn't strike me as a timeless classic just yet but is still a fun pass time

Atmosperic and beautifully crafted. Easily among the top AC titles. Don't miss out on this iconic chapter in the AC story!

Let's get this out of the way first:

Game is demanding on the hardware but runs fine for me. I'm a sucker for high framerates so I run the game at a mixture of high - very high settings, I only use ultra on the character models. The visual difference to ultra is negligable and the frames are far higher this way. There are framepacing issues meaning even at high framerates you'll experience micro stuttering. I hope this will be adressed in future patches. At the moment I'm seeing framerates of 60-90 depending on the scene.

The game itself is sheer brilliance. I can't remember a game that had this quality of level design. VERY MINOR , NON-STORY, SPOILER AHEAD:

There's a level near the end, a large mansion, that has you traverse it where you can switch between time periods on the fly. You see the place run down and worn out and can switch to the past where it was flourishing. The graphical effects in that section are utterly ridiculous. It's absolutely genius in look and design.

Fun and highly addictive. Story isn't going to win any awards but get's pretty hardcore near the end.

I played 30 min of the game and then felt a strong urge to do a full clean Windows install to remove any trace of this software from my HDD. It was my first indie/early access attempt and it cost me months to gain the confidence to dive into another indie title. Games like these strengthen the arguments of early access/indie haters.
