When it's fun it's incredibly fun; when it's irritating it's extremely irritating. I very highly recommend playing it for the first time with a friend (someone you can either learn together with or someone who's already played it before). It's a fairly simple premise that isn't too hard to wrap your head around at first, but there's so many perks & abilities & effects that are extremely hard to learn. I have about 300 hours on PS4 and close to 150 on PC and there's still a lot of things that I forget about or have trouble remembering. I'd also recommend watching some experienced Youtube or Twitch players play this to kind of get an idea of how this all works (I recommend this both if you still haven't bought it and are thinking about it and even if you bought it and are simply new at it).

A great game when it was released almost a decade ago, a great game now. I don't need to tell you this plays differently than the more recent Resident Evils, ammo is scarce, but you can get around that by learning to dodge enemies by luring them into lunging or hugging a wall as you run. It's incredibly atmospheric, and a bit hard to learn, you have to examine a lot of areas fairly thoroughly, and even use the Examine function on certain items in order to proceed. Don't let its initial difficulty scare you off, once you learn the basics it's all fun. Plenty of unlockables and incentives to replay, an excellent remaster and a great addition to any horror fans' library, I firmly believe this game is an essential game to play for anyone who claimsto like scary games.
