As a 90's kid, I grew up with DOOM, Quake, Blood, Heretic, Duke Nukem, etc. I played all them shooters out there BUT the one that actually made a difference... some how I skipped Half Life. :'( but kept playing shooters. Then I came across a weird but funny puzzle/platform hybrid called Portal and everything changed >>> Now as a young adult, I purchased the famous Orange Box and modded the hell out of Half-Life 2, Ep1 & Ep2... Good times... Hell lot of fun and an incredible story.
Well, right now I'm not even the one playing the AMAZING Black Mesa... it's my 11th year old daughter who is gradually leaving the Switch for a more mature and capable platform such as the PC (recently she also mastered the WASD + Mouse combo by playing... you guessed it.., Minecraft). Black Mesa looks, sounds, feels and plays like a whole new game and she absolutely LOVES IT. Crowbar Collective not only managed to re-create Half-Life with what looks and feels like a new engine, but they were able to come up with a state-of-the-art triple A remaster like the ones of Capcom. Truly amazing work :D
Now the best part of this is going through the whole saga with her (trying to keep it spoiler free) while we wait for our VR headset to arrive... Then we are going back into Alyx MATRIX style XD
