There are thousands of different games out there all relating to zombies. I wasn't very big on zombies themselves, but after playing a good amount of this with a good buddy of mine, I came to exceptionally love this game.

One of the greatest elements I believe this game has is the ability to play the past maps and story of the first Left 4 Dead, along with all the new additions of Left 4 Dead 2 (guns and special infected). I thought this was one of the coolest things in the game. Even though I played all of Left 4 Dead (first one), I fully enjoyed running through the graveyards and forests on the first game for a second go.

One of the most interesting parts of game is having the ability to play different maps from the workshop that other people have made! I've had a good time playing through creative maps made by other people, and adds a whole new type of variety to gameplay that just keeps on getting newer. This definitely adds so much content that I'm pretty sure I've put 30 more hours just because of all the maps I've played.

All in all, my experience so far with this game has been fantastic. It's a bunch of fun alone, and even more fun with friends. If you like hacking through hordes of zombies with a frying pan, screaming at your friends to rescue you from a jockey, or setting fire to 2 tanks while trying to not alert the witch, this game will keep you on your toes and you'll be wanting more soon after.

To The Moon is a story-driven game that has a retro-like apperance that focuses around an elderly man, John, who has the urge to go to the moon, but doesn't know why. So he calls two scientists to enter his memories to find out why he wants he contains this urge and what it means.

This game, as earlier said, is story-driven, meaning that gameplay happens less and plot is more important. Gameplay mainly consists of finding certain elements that have significance during several of John's memories, therefore you can travel backwards (elder to child) and find the reason he want to go to the moon. Aaaaaaand that's basically it. To summarize it up, it's mainly exploration of the environment and finding the "keys" to the "gateway", allowing you to continue. Then, when you get all the "keys", you solve a puzzle that creates a picture by flipping certain rows of square tablets. Not very difficult in the least, to be honest.

However, the story in this game is spectacular. With such a simple concept of trying to find out why a man wants to go to the moon, the story and how going from his elder stage all the way back to his childhood, the story makes you feel all kinds of emotions, especially sadness, joy, anger, and all around deepness that the story goes into. I loved nearly every step of the story. Not many games made me feel actual surprise and gave me a slight intense feeling in the game. Surprisingly, it made me think a little.

Environments and all round art of the game is beautiful. Even in pixelated graphics, this game truly uses pixels in an amazing and stunning way to create colorful and vibrant surroundings and characters. Speaking of characters, I felt like the characters weren't just video game characters on my screen, but instead actually characters that could be in real life, with real emotions and actions a human would have.

The only bad thing about this game is that it's a tad short. With a good 4-5 hour gameplay in all, with most of it being talking, I was kind of expecting it to be a bit longer. All-in-all, I felt the story started and ended on a great note, so I didn't feel like I was being rushed into the story, cause I could go at my own pace in moving around and exploration to my own pace.

In conclusion, To The Moon can be compared to reading a great book. Only visual...and you play as the characters. The beginning, inbetween, and end all were an enjoyment. If you like good stories that take you on a ride of all emotions, try out this game!

(But buy it on sale though :D)

We all heard the joke about Half-Life 3 and everything like that. It's become such a meme now that people will think after all this time the game will just end up sucking or something. But everytime I saw that joke, I always thought: "You know what, I haven't even played the games to even know what that joke means. So I bought Half-Life 2, along with Episode 1 and 2 and decided to play it.

And boy was I glad I did.

Not only did this game give me a story that I didn't want to end, but also threw in some challenging gameplay, amazing mechanics, pretty good graphics that tied together an amazing franchise. I enjoyed this game mostly for the story, and the questions I asked the game were always answered throught story. Original creatures, stressful situations, and a variety of enemies and beautiful environments really made it so I could do what I want and take the pace that I wanted. And I wasn't even expecting that!

The game didn't tell you how to explore the game. It just let you do it yourself. But it combines story, characters, sound, and just downright enjoyable playability that makes one of the coolest games I've ever played. I've recommended this game to many other people before because this game truly opened up to me in the greatest way.

One of my personal favorites, FEZ is a fun little Indie game that uses the unique style of 8bit graphics and genuine calm fun.

Pros:
  • Very calm gameplay
  • Tight Controls
  • Soothing Music
  • Everything is cute
  • Intersting Environments
  • Average-level Puzzles
  • Quick Respawn After Dying

Cons:
  • Can get lost, but not often
  • Can get a bit boring after a while

I'll give you a brief summary of the game. You start of with a cute little character (Gomez) that has been given the task to save the world from being destroyed by being placed from a 2D realm to a 3D & 2D realm. Gomez is given a fez by a giant floating yellow hexahedron, which allows him to see the world he once saw only 2D, but now can see both 2D and 3D. However, this causes his entire universe to start falling apart. The player's job is to find cubes around his universe to repair the deteriorating beyond.

This game is basically a calm adventure puzzle game. One has the ability to rotate the world from left to right to get a whole different perspective of the world one is currently in. Since FEZ is based around discovery, rotating the world can allow one to find cubes and get to certain places for new discoveries. It's a very unique way of solving puzzles, it just puts a lot of fun into climbing towers by fixing the view of something that seemed impossible, but from another view, is completely possible.

The gameplay is one controlling Gomez by walking and jumping to different worlds and finding the cubes. There are a lot of them out there, so be prepared to search everywhere.

The music fits the game very nicely with tranquil music that fits the atmosphere of the game and the mood of trying to solve puzzles. It's also quite catchy and just plain fun to listen to.

The controls of Gomez are pretty tight in controlling him. One has WASD to move and Spacebar to jump, but he also can grab ledges and crawl along the walls and vines, leading to some unknown places that one couldn't get to by just walking or jumping.

Fortunately, the not-so-good parts of the game are scarce. One could get lost/frustrated about navigating through many many places of the universe, looking in every corner for a cube. Also, trying to find some cubes in worlds and also trying to find a way to get to said-world can be a bit boring. However, it is enjoyable to search new worlds for cubes and figure out many puzzles with spinning the world around like a top.

All in all, this game is very enjoyable and a really fun puzzle adventure, enjoyable by all. Too bad there won't be a second one.

Super Crate Box is a small, indie game that consists of the player battling against green and white monsters with a variety of firearms. You play a character and your objective is to collect as many crates (which contain different kinds of weapons, which one uses to defeat the monsters.) before dieing. This game can be frustrating though, considering the fact that your character dies in one touch of any of the monsters, one has to be carefull in jumping around a small map and firing guns at monsters, who can sometimes be in groups of many and can be difficult to take out.

In each crate, there is a weapon. The player has to use the weapon until they obtain another crate and get a different gun or dies. This is a cycle of repetition, since the game can go for infinite amount of time, with one's score going higher by one with every crate obtained. With the higher number of crates obtained in one life, the more guns and different kinds of characters one can get. There are three ways to die in this game. First is touching a monster and dieing quickly. Second is falling into a fire, which is at the very bottom-middle of the map you are placed in. Monsters follow a continous pathway down into the fire, but appear at the top, faster and turned red/purple. Third is by one of the guns one can use. It fires a bullet that goes completely horizontal back and forth twice. If one character gets hit by the bullet, it gets sliced in half, killing it.

Although this game is rather violent, there is no gore whatsoever in this game. There is no blood or organs coming out of the body of the character or the monsters. If either one die, they just fall of the screen with no blood spilling everywhere, so I'd say it's an E10+ game (if it's rated).

I recommend this game to people who love Indie games and who also love a good repetitive game of endless enjoyment in blowing up or knocking off monster with a whole loadout of many weapons at random. The only downside to this game is that it can get a little frustrating with dieing so quickly when one is so close to unlocking a different character, but is nonetheless a fun game to play.

Garry's Mod is a sandbox game where a player can basically to anything they want. That's right, anything. A player can spawn NPCs, build creations, design weapons, create enviroments, or just do what you want. This game is prepared for a majority of what the community of this game has in store for it, so it can take a lot of big things. However, it is prone to crashing (exiting the game without you doing it) unexpectedly. But one the bright side, this game allows players to have fun doing whatever the heck they want to do. One can position ragdolls in funny positions will comedic faces. Or one can go up against a zombie horde and try to survive with a certain loadout of guns. The possibilities are about endless!

Now, if one gets bored of doing anything they want or is just not into positioning ragdolls, there is another way to having fun with this game. There are gamemodes out there in Garry's Mod that people can play with other people in a fun (and sometimes intense) server. One gamemode is called Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT). In this game mode, there are a cartain amount of innocent terrorists in a certain map. Now, in this band of innocents are traitors. The traitor's mission: Eliminate all the innocents. The innocent's mission: Eliminate the terrorists. Seems simple, right? Well, not really. No one knows who the traitors migh be. It could be anyone, it could even be the player itself! No one knows at first...until the chaos begins. You see, the traitors have some weapons that the innocents don't have at first, such as a knife, silent pistol, traitor sniper, C4, or a jihad (suicide bomb). The traitors will stop at nothing to kill the innocents and win the round. One might be walking with it's friend, looking for the traitors, when BAM, you're killed by your friend, who just happens to be the traitor. No two rounds of TTT are never the same, with different people being traitors and different ways of ending up dead.

TTT is just one of the many different gamemodes of Garry's Mod. There are so many gamemodes out there that this review would be too long for people to read. I haven't experienced even near close to the full amount of randomness that Garry's Mod has to offer. Which is why I fully recommend this game.

X-COM Terror from the Deep is a huge strategy game based mainly on the players descision on many things at once. The plot is that Earth is being invaded by aliens from the sea who aren't hesitant to kill anyone preventing them from their main goal: Taking over the entire planet. The player's job is to be the Lead Commander of the whole X-COM facilities. The player is given a simple job: Stop the aliens from destroying the world. Now, when I saw "Lead Commander", I mean exactly that. The player controls everything that is given to it, such as sending out patrols, whether to attc\ack aliens or not, buying/selling materials, hireing people to work for you, and a whole lot more.

This game is, like I said, a big strategy game. It involves lots of numbers, and money is extremely important. If you don't have enough money till the end of the month, the world governers shut down X-COM and the aliens win. The player has to make the right choices on what to manufacture, patrol, construct, attack, and most importantly, research. I have to say, researching is the key factor of getting the most out of this game. Without research, the player will have to stick to harpoon guns which don't do that much damage at first. But with research, the player can have better weapons that deal more damage, and I mean a LOT of damage.

This game is pixelated, so it's graphics are kinda poor. But the strategy, thinking, and the numbers all come together in this, so the player needs to really take everything into account when it invovles money. Battling is pretty intense too. The battle system is based around the player having it's turn to get it's men together and plan an attack. Most of the battles are under water, so it's pretty dark at first. But when the player starts moving it's men around, the environment starts to pan out and you have a good look on the battleground. Once the player has done it's turn, it's time for the aliens turn. The aliens basically do whatever the player can do: move, attack, or run away and group up. It's all based on strategy and knowing what aleins have what, cause it's not just one kind of alien attacking Earth. There are many species of aliens and all have different capabilities than other aliens.

I fully recommend this game for the strategic and brain power one has to use, and is my dad's favorite game, so after watching him play a lot, and after me playing a while myself, I've come to fully enjoy this game. I hope you will too.

Team Fortress 2 is one of the most fun games I have ever owned. It's face-paced comedic FPS that has a very addicting way of making one want to play more. The nine classes (Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy) have their own traits and balances that make the game fun, such as backstabbing (Spy), running faster than the other classes (Scout), and being able to rocket jump (Soldier). With tons of different weapons and a random number of classes of the other team, each round is never the same, so it never gets boring (unless one is playing Deathrun).

Team Fortress 2 is also been known as a "Hat Simulator", which it basically is, considering the amount of cosmetics that each class can wear one the battlefield. Their are many different kinds of combinations of hats and miscellanious cosmetics that you never know which kind of combination you can obtain. The game has it's own humor that the characters create and sometime the game itself will cause something that will make one laugh.

If one is Free to Play, then one has the choice of being Free to Play forever, or buying something from the TF2 Store and becoming Premium. The game does not force the player to buy something from the store, although the downfall to being Free to Play is that one can not trade with other people and some servers make "[F2P]" appear at the front of your name. But these are just minor things that a player can bypass if all the player wants to do is play the game without the hats and such.

I fully recomend this game to anyone who wants a fast-paced FPS that likes to laugh at the often switch between comedy and intense battle. I recommend it even more if you like cosmetics that make your classes look awesome in your own way and the different varieties and stats of weapons that can change one classes health or vulnerability or even strength in damage. To me, Team Fortress 2 is my favorite game I have bought on Steam today.
