This might be a fun coop experience as that is what it is clearly designed for, but anything is more fun with friends and unless coop is obligatory, cannot be a reviewing factor.

I would like to recommend this game, but it honestly comes off as unsastifactory due to how clunky & unresponsive it feels. All from fighting a horde of hormagaunts who somehow does not come off as crunchy and death animated enough to be sastifying, to fighting Tyranid Warriors and having parry refusing to work or lacking any form of stagger mechanic against them. To then missions like the pyroblaster that does not feel like a flamethrower at all, I am not even sure what it feels like. Then the assault jetpack where you aim to Bash into the tyranid warriors so you can execute them, only for the game to decide the swarm is more important so you fly off to some completely random location rather where you aimed.

It is just not, feeling good. I keep coming back to that. It feels not sastifying enough to be a space marine. Not to speak about the horrendous heal mechanic, since there basically is none, which forces you to repeat executions just to get a tiny bit of armor to stay alive, and spoiler alert... it is not the hordes that will hurt or kill you. It is the constant termagant snipers making anytime I die always going "I have no idea what killed me, I was fighting a horde perfectly fine, then when they are all dead I just randomly fall down dead". Everytime I die it has nothing to do with the enemies I am directly facing, unless I get stunlocked by a Tyranid Warrior and can't either dodge or parry refuse to work, I keep falling because some random ranged enemy decided to shoot at me that I had no idea where around.

I do want to enjoy the game, but it is also a bit buggy, strange to be so SSD dependant that people install without realizing it will not make the game work or how it crashes when you close the game down. Or the most hilarious crash, where the game is still going but you can't kill or hurt anything since the game has secretly crashed on you! Even in a singleplayer campaign!

It had an interesting premise, to relive the rise of Hitler and the second World War 2 from a resistance / civilian point of view.

Unfortunately he does not really do anything with this premise. Each time you get ready to start doing real resistance work your chapter is over with and the story progresses (Spoiler alert, you can't really do anything). I literally spent all chapters doing the same things: Get Money, Get Support, Buy Hideout, Go on Morale Event.

Never once did I actually do anything worth called a resistance. And the game thought I did 5 Star worthy gameplay. When I did nothing. I just told people "Hey let's stop these Nazis!" and that was it.

By the time I finally were able to do anything (I had a horrible spread of random characters, all only good at getting supporters) the game went "CHAPTER DONE! I WILL NOW REMOVE EVERYTHING YOU DID AND HAVE YOU RESTART FROM SCRATCH ON THE NEXT CHAPTER!".

I really wish it had more depths, but after finishing it and not doing any real resistance or having the government fight me. I can't really recommend it when you can get through it just getting supporters and increasing morale. Doing any explosions etc, was not worth it and did not really do anything either and was too difficult to get to when I had to spend time rising Supporters (Since it is a win condition) and increasing my Morale and keeping my guys incognito.

So many things I could say about this game but in the end it is just a really great experience, with great animation, art, voice acting, story, characters and even gameplay that keep you engaged.

Just a really really fun experience.

Too many quests thrown at your face right from the start of the game, then it is the fact that the game is super buggy which made it not at all enjoyable to play. Tried to stealth through a section of the game, only for the the enemies to get stuck trying to shoot at me through walls, have my units stuck inside walls and so on.

I want to enjoy this game. I really do.

It has a great aesthetic, wonderful ambiance and soundtrack. Jimmy Hall is terrifying even though he looks so silly (probably because he is a actor recorded). It has a really promising and one of a kind horror. Just being in the hotel is unnerving. This is wonderful.

The problem is the gameplay aspect. The game is 100% dependant on you being good at differating sounds and using your ears to listen to the tiniest of sounds while there is loud banging and whistling around you. If you are such a person that can handle such sound differation, then go a head and play this game. But if you are like me and struggle with active sounds (aka, games that require you to be open to sound differences and being able to tell them apart actively, rather than passively / by reflex). Then I cannot recommend this game to you. It will lead to you only feeling frustrated and confused (like me) why you cannot successfully play this game when Jimmy Hall Boop you and reset your progress over and over.

Though, there is more why I cannot recommend this game and that has to do with the core goal of the game. You are forced to find clues and keys to progress by speaking to ghosts and figuring out their tragic story. The game actively want you to explore the hotell floors to find all the clues. The game actively is trying to tell you to go to certain areas to talk to ghosts and figure out their story. I do not mind the constant 15 second story progression, then go to the next floor idea. Even if it is tedious.

What I mind is the fact that while I have to listen for Jimmy Hall to not Boop me and reset me, I have to actively struggle and spin around hoping the ghost event trigger so that I can enter their room and talk to them. The game DEMANDS that you stand in the open, where Jimmy can get you. Spin around / move around a certain area, just moving back and forth, waiting for the ghost event to happen, just so you can progress the story and talk to them afterwards! Did I mention this is happening in the hallways Jimmy are while he is trying to get you? That is what really bother me and forced me to refund and really write this negative review. I want to love the game, but I felt complete disappointment and dishearted to even continue ( even tried to get back to it to give it another shot) because the game is ACTIVELY pushing you to put yourself at risk of being RESET / attacked by Jimmy only because you are trying to get the GHOST to active their event so you can progress the story.

I really wish I could like this game. I really really wish that I could. But the game design flaw in how to progress the story and the fact that Jimmy is sound-based (and I cannot play such games) makes me really unable to like it. It has such a promise, but falls so unfortunately flat in the design flaw.

This is a fun short visual novel that is the continuation of Perceptions of the Dead (Part 1, which is free!) and it is really enjoyable. Like all of Ithaqua Lab's VIsual Novels Sita / Geckos brings out her A-game in making a beautiful one of a kind art style (That are also different between genres!) with lovely voice acting that really highlight the game. This is a story, to enjoy and experience for about 1 hour and 30 minutes (for the first story, as of I am writing this the second story is yet to be released) and it is really worth the price!

When you come into this, expect to be charmed and have a ride as you get to know the characters only to be snatched away with thousands of questions that I... hope will be answered in the next Story! That is probably the only thing worrysome is that the story leaves you with a lot of questions and little answers, but it really is worth the hard work of Ithaqua Labs put into and there is still another story coming...!

I am a kickstarter backer of this game! And because 1 of my characters are in there as an extra I am already bias.

Even so I would buy this and gladly play through it. I so far have only played it once and have a lot of endings more to find as well as new characters I never got to see. I look forward to giving this another run and find the other endings and see the signficant change in the story. Though as of now I have yet to do that.

Also I highly recommended to play Brilliant Shadows first before playing this part.

This is a great and lovely experience if you are looking for a very different take of fantasy with a lot of sexuality involved, it is important to the characters and is an interesting spin for fantasy. If you expect a hack and slash game sadly, this is not for you. It is better to look at this game as a book, a hidden adventure book. Since your choices will have impact on the story. It is after all called a Visual Novel.

The game is, as I said great, wonderful voice acting, fantastic dialog and writing. (Though personally I would like a little more description of their actions.) The voice acting is top-notched just like the first game with fantastic voice actors who truly excel at their job! Some voice actors had poor mics but that was mostly extras with few lines of dialog which is a shame, but understandable. This is a really nice quality game and the devs are super nice people who works extremely hard to keep updating the game to add 1 more mountain route and even to continue the "bad ending" from Briliant Shadows!!!

You can tell how much passion they put into this game and it would be super cool if it could get some publicity!
