What an unexpected gem this game is! If you're looking for fancy graphics, in-depth and immersive fighting, or a vast open world to explore, then look elsewhere.

Hand of Fate, as it's name suggests, is a card & tabletop game with a significant element of chance involved. The key to making this more than just a game about praying to RNG-sus is as you progress, you find multiple ways to influence your chances...be it new cards, new encounters, or new items. You will see some repetition as you progress in story mode, but they are generally quick and minor; and the game introduces new cards at a good pace to keep things variable.

This isn't a deck-building game in the way you might expect. At the outset of each 'adventure' (which more or less could be said to be a chapter), you have two decks built of the cards in your inventory. One for weapons/armor/etc, and one for encounters. In the first few chapters, your inventory is small...and the total number of cards you need to select is small. Over time your inventory grows, and so too does the number of cards you need to have in your deck to play. There are other cards that only the Dealer controls, largely for rewards or determining the makeup of enemies in battle. You have (almost) no control over these.

The combat isn't anything especially stunning, but it does lend variety to the game by giving you an activity to do. I would have to say the combat mechanics are the most superficial of the game's aspects. It's hack-n-slash with some dodging and occasionally using an ability.

The voice work of the Dealer is excellent and immersive, occasionally breaking the 4th wall. He always has new things to say and comment about in just about every situation and encounter. I found myself looking forward to progressing in part just to hear what he'd say or do next.

There's a pretty crazy amount of content packed into what seems, on the surface, to be just another card game/dungeon crawler. Every encounter has the chance of unlocking new cards and new story branches...and cards you unlock on one chapter often affect the next one you play.

My only real complaint was the lack of a very basic tutorial or introduction. The first chapter serves as tutorial of sorts but a brief overview at the beginning would have been beneficial in my opinoin.

If you like tabletop RPGs and dungeon crawlers, this game is essential in your library...I can't recommend it enough!

Lovely, relaxing puzzle game. Not too incredibly challenging, but the stages with higher difficulty levels will likely take you a little bit to solve. Gorgeous artwork as well as gentle music. A good game to sit down to after a rough day at work just to unwind.

It's an easy 100% game and a few trading cards, but it is unfortunately rather short, with no replayability (the DLC adds one location to the map). I consider this the only downside of the game.

Simply one of the best tower defense games I've played over the years...I was delighted to see it here on Steam. Lots of unique maps, substantial upgrade and accessory content, and plenty of replay value. The maps have a generally open format allowing you to decide your strategy. It does have something of a storyline to it; while it is pretty skimpy, it does nothing to detract from the game. I originally played this (and it's predecessors) Kongregate, and this is a faithful port of that game. There was a paid upgrade for additional content in the free version that roughly corresponds to about half of all the content included in about the same price on Steam for the entire game.

If you're on the fence, play the free content available out there first before buying on Steam, but the cost is well worth what you get, if you like tower defense games.

A gorgeous looking, if minimalistic game. It's an interesting take on the storytelling aspect of a game, and the first third of it has some serious feels. This game requires just a little patience for understanding, but the story does suck you in.

My only complaint is that if feels a little anticlimactic to me. I expected more but it never materialized. However I don't feel this spoiled the game in any way. I imagine there's some replay value if you change your responses on various playthrus, but beyond that, this game is a one-off.

Regardless, I enjoyed it. If you like some quiet and atmospheric storytelling in a unique way, pick this one up.

My original review of this game appears to have been premature. I had once given a thumbs down and not recommended it to anyone, seeing is it seemed stuck in development hell, and that the devs had essentually given up on the game.

It was brought to my attention last night that this has finally been released in a 1.0 version and is much more complete. While this isn't directly a review at this point, I wanted to clarify my previous negative review to those who may have read it and made a judgement call because of it. I'll be sure to put more details in an actual review, but I wanted to just mention that.

If you're looking for a minimal yet surprisingly well-executed puzzle game with a simple yet unique style, pick this up. Even not on sale, I would say $3 is well worth it. There's no interface, no timers, no score...just the satisfaction of bending your brain to look at things with a different perspective. It's easy to pick up, solve a few and go do something else....or spend a few hours working your way through the 500+ levels to unlock. It does pick up difficulty as you go on, and while I've only made it into the first few groups of puzzles and things still seem somewhat basic, I have not gotten so frustrated as I don't want to go back to it. The reward is completing each one. Try it out, if it's on sale, you -can't- go wrong for less than a buck.

This game sat on my wishlist for quite some time while I hemmed and hawwed over whether or not I wanted to buy it. Reviews were good, I've just had a not-so-great streak of games I've tried out lately. But I figured what the heck, it looks like something I might like.

And let me tell you, it is! This is a light-hearted 2D old-school style RPG that makes light and silly fun of many of the tropes we all know and love when it comes the the RPGs we've all played over the years.

The gameplay is very simple to learn, but you do sit and strategize a little bit when it comes to the attacks you want to use and what to equip for the best results. It is very forgiving and easy to pick up for the casual player, you can save at any point you want and there is no rush. You can go back an unlock previous areas you've been to for more exploration or items.

And of the items, there are a great many in this game. You will find an upgadeable crafting system here based largely upon random drops from enemies and chests. There are also some that you can buy. Weapons and armor are all fairly unique in the things they do an attirbutes that they have.

This game doesn't do anything especially new or different. It is a comfortable and well-executed little game that you can sink hours into without realizing it has gotten dark out and you ought to make dinner or at least let the dog outside.

The $12 full price is not bad, I felt it was a reasonable cost for the game. But if you can pick it up on sale for less, I highly recommend you do if any of the above rings your bell.

I cannot figure out what it is about this game that I cannot leave it alone. Those who suffer from OCD, beware...this game will suck you in like nothing else.

There's no score, no perfect way to do things. The various maps are set up as both expansive as well as compact. Two modes of play, either a time-trial or just work your way thru a level at your own pace. Some take an hour, some take many more.

Janitor Simulator 2015 is a great time waster. You will either love or hate this game. I personally enjoy it quite a bit...it has one of those '2 more minutes!' effects on me.

I'm not sure if this game is ever on sale, but I'd say it's worth a grab. Watch the videos and youtube it before you buy, if you're curious.

I would never have imagined a game using no controls but your two mouse buttons would be this entertaining.

I have only played this game a short while, but from what I've seen so far, I'm going to have an incredibly fun experience. Get this game, it is WELL worth the couple of bucks for it.
