Unusual Findings is a traditional pixelated point-and-click adventure game set in the 1980s. The story is fun and full of callbacks to classic pop culture during the time period. As someone who grew up in that decade, I had a lot of fun spotting the "easter eggs" littered throughout the locations. Of course, these references were slightly altered to protect the innocent.

The story revolves around three high school boys who just want to watch adult videos on a descrambled television signal. They catch a transmission from what appears to be an alien and go searching for it. Of course, they get in way over their heads and go on one crazy adventure that I would say is just barely shy of a Stranger Things episode. If you're a fan of that series or just of '80s nostalgia, then there should be something here for you to like.

I am a huge fan of Cyberpunk, and Born Punk does not disappoint. It is an adventure game set in a dystopian future where humans and androids live together. The story focuses on three protagonists: a hacker, a corpo, and a hip-hop gangsta andro. Their tales become intertwined after undergoing similar experiences and are forced to work together to sort out their mess. The story is pretty good, the characters (particularly Grandmaster Flashdrive) are fun, and the puzzles are for the most part straightforward. I rarely had to get help. The graphics are old-school pixellated and the music sets the atmosphere well. All in all, Born Punk is a worthy addition to any point-and-click or Cyberpunk fun. Highly recommended to check this one out.

Mighty pirate Guybrush Threepwood is back and he's once again looking for The Secret of Monkey Island. He is up against his longtime nemesis with a skin problem, LeChuck, and his crew of undead pirates. True to form for a Monkey Island game, Return to Monkey Island is full of bad jokes and gags. But in a good way. This is an adventure game for adventure game fans.

The puzzles aren't too hard, even in the "hardcore" mode for us pure enthusiasts, and there is a hint system included for when you get stuck. I've had to consult the book of hints a few times, but even then if I had the patience I could have figured most of them out on my own. There is also a "story mode" for those who don't want the puzzles but want the story. Of course, I picked classic mode. I can't comment on the easier style. If there is one major problem I have with the puzzles is that it tends to be a bit overreliant on maze puzzles. I hate maze puzzles. That said, I only really had to brute force my way through one.

The story of the new Monkey Island game is fun and quirky, and looks to have taken place right after the second game ended. Guybrush tells the tale of his daring do to [redacted] as they sit on a bench. The ending that I got was...interesting but not completely unexpected for a Ron Gilbert game. I'm pretty sure that there's more endings and I will return to Monkey Island at least once more to try to get the "best ending" and complete my achievement list.

All in all, Return to Monkey Island is a great homage to the old LucasArts adventure games, and with a veteran at the helm it works on so many levels. Ron Gilbert proves that he still has the magic touch.

Max's Big Bust 2 continues the escapades of everyone's favorite gender bent Aussie cop. The game starts off with a (literal) bang, more transformation shenanigans ensue, and the investigation starts off. As of the writing of this review, only the first four chapters have been released and I have to say that I've enjoyed every moment so far. There are call backs to all of the previous games in the series as well as some that are still being worked on but have not been released yet.

One aspect that I love about this visual novel is that there are some creative uses of adventure game puzzle tropes. I always look forward to seeing how a genre of game goes out of its way to be innovative, and mashing together said puzzles is fun to try to figure out. Even with an immersive shattering meta hint system. As a fan of both genres, I find this mashup to be a fun diversion that helps to advance the story without slowing the plot down too much.

Lancelot's Hangover is an irreverent yet hilarious take on the Holy Grail legend. You play as the titular character as you wander around the land of France trying to find said Grail and fill it with booze for an epic party. On the way, you'll meet many...interesting characters and solve inane puzzles to your goal. This game is like if a Monty Python sketch was made into a point-and-click adventure game. Definitely not for the easily offended.

Wet Dreams Don't Dry is a wonderful addition to the Leisure Suit Larry family. After the last couple of games released I was wary of trying it out, but I'm so glad I did. The humor is still there, albeit updated to a 21st century audience, which makes for hilarious misadventures of the original lounge lizard as he tries to struggle through online dating to reach his dream girl. There are plenty of references to previous games and the adventure genre as a whole, so for those of us who were around during the heyday of Sierra will find something to love here as well. I can't highly recommend this enough to fans of the series.

Alluna and Brie is a game that takes several gaming concepts and mashes them together into one pretty cohesive whole. It's basically a turn-based RPG-light game with a lot of visual novel elements. It also combines time management themes with some mini-games. The "mermaid spikers" sport is mildly fun (not my cup of joe, but has the potential to be addictive), but the Pokemon Go-like mini-game I have yet to try out. It must seem that having so many different playstyles together in one game is a recipe for disaster, but it seems to work.

As for the story, I'll freely admit that I'm a fan of Lach's games. It is a direct sequel to Max's Big Bust and has several call-backs to Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme (both games I also highly recommend trying out). The story itself doesn't have much in the way of gender bending this time around as it follows two magical girls (one who can summon healing potion-like cheese sandwiches) and other magically gifted individuals (several of which have popped up in the previous title). They fight monster girls in an alternate dimension known only as the "Frakk", which is where the RPG elements come into play.

The game is pretty long. As of writing this review I'm only about halfway through the game and have already clocked in about 27 hours. So expect to spend a long time both in the Frakk as well as the Australian city of "Axon City" and its surrounding areas.

Seeing innovation in a gaming genre is always something I look for in a game. This is especially true for one that usually doesn’t try to break the mold. Rescue Quest Gold, while it does have a lot of the same tropes it also does try to be its own game. This is most certainly a breath of fresh air in a sea of Bejeweled clones. And I have to say that this innovation is something I could see myself return to on a semi-regular basis.

I wanted to like this one, I really did. I'm not into this type of game, but the premise intrigued me. Unfortunately, it is completely unplayable. While the controls are pretty intuitive, practically every time I died I ended up respawning inside of a wall completely unable to move. As such, it became completely unplayable. If this major bug gets addressed, I might give it another shot but it's way too frustrating to continue trying.

All in all, Demetrios is a great addition to the collection of any comedy adventure game lover. There's plenty of mindless humor and crazy situations that Bjorn and company find themselves in. Fans of globe trotting adventure and "save the world" scenarios should find something to like here as well. It's basically Broken Sword on crack and the lame jokes don't let up for one second. Honestly, there's really little serious about the game and it's so worth playing if you want to turn your brain off for a few hours and just have some fun.
