Early Access Review
Killing Floor 2, after what seemed as much too long a period for being labeled as beta, continuing its presence as an early access game for over a year, has finally been given an official release date of November 2016. Having sunk many hours into the original Killing Floor, many of the early edges have, I feel, finally been ironed out. Initially I returned to KF1 and complained bitterly that the creature animations were jerky, hit boxes and weapons fire felt 'off', leaving impression of dissatisfaction and a stale level of gameplay. The new weapons were a novel idea, but often were over powered or unimpressive. The game was lacking seriously in balance and polish. Today, KF2 offers, in its current state (September 2016) a worthy slow-paced levelling system for 8 classes (originally a scanty 4) with a measured reward of experience points modelled on how well you play and which weapon type you use to deliver death to the undead in what is mostly a Coop Survival Shooter. The height of satisfaction gained in levelling up an off class, such as the Sharpshooter which specializes in proficiency in accuracy (headshots), can be buffed and ranked up while playing as any of the other classes simply by attaining headshots, is just glorious. Now with the recent addition of the old Sharpshooter and Swat class, the game has finally reached a nice bit of special content that destinguishes it apart, in a favorable way, to KF1. Nail bombs, trap doors (rigged explosive welded doors), freeze grenades, and adjustable perks all offer a huge amount of variety that was lacking in its early stages. IMO, this game is ready for release now. It is fun in its difficulty that even failure can feel rewarding on a great run. It is once again equally funny and frustrating almost every time to witness a solo completed/failed run of a Wave by a solo player that could bring your team back from the brink of a failed late Wave game. Few shooters have reached the level of satisfaction when I am that player, and how often it is achieved. The added content feels like it will give KF2 a long life, while the DLC is mostly cosmetic without giving away the edge or upper-hand to golden DLC weapon/ammo/buff packs. Enjoy the great jokes with friends when 'Fleshpound' becomes a byword that evokes nervous cackles and shouts for the heaviest firepower. Also, the ending bosses are once again just as cheap as all heck as they've ever been in KF original. Oh, and saying that, the Patriach is back too.

::edit:: You can only advance a class by using any one of their specialized weapon set or special skill (i.e. welding doors as Support Specialist).

Killing Floor 2 is nearly upon us. Honorable mention has been made of Soldier of Fortune limb damage, with added damage effects like holes and visible/exposed bones. Yet the formula appears to be the same and that is just a lot of win. The game has been downed as The Poor Man's Left For Dead, but this game, though you have outposts to reach, is nothing like L4D. The formula is simple: Survive. Get through the numbered undead and prep before the next 'Wave'. Sounds easy, but no one game is ever the same. Though there is team playand even a med class, everyone has a duty to shoot as many undead faces as possible as fast as possible, including the medic. Though some people are so good they can carry bads, you can never really protect anyone when the **** hits the fan in the later waves. The game is supremely difficult in higher difficulties, but the satisfaction of a hard win in KF will rival any co-op experience out there. You have many memorable enemies and some that are so cheap they will become punch lines in your gaming life, recognizable immediately by fellow KF friends. The ability to work/level ANY class simply by using their weapon system means you can be a level cap Sharpshooter simply by getting headshots in each game, same as just throwing a grenade will boost your specs as a Demolitionist. Cheers to great times and eager anticipation to do it again in KF2.

If you've played Planet Annihilation and felt its potential, you owe it to yourself ot try FA. It is the true successor to Total Annihilation without a recycled sound track. Consider FA the definitive edidtion of SupCom. Having a great hyper-threading cpu will make this baby purr. The options you have for player skirmishes with sharing resources and caps and limits on it, make for a great co-op stand-off. There are also great mods like Vampire, that pit you against a randomly chosen player that has 2x resource pull. This is unknown to anyone but the Vampire. Also, check out some of the player made videos, they are pretty epic. Enjoy.

Been a big Squaresoft gamer, since FFII on SNES. Been a big Cavedog player, since Total Annihilation, the predecessor in the future timeline of the Supreme Commander series, when the wars were over and left nothing. But war. Played the demo and was not impressed with its mythological aproach/introduction to units of each faction. When I got the game though, it was a whole 'nother story (quite literally!). I enjoyed immensely the plotlines of each faction and their tie-in's. It was done well, and the pacing was good on Normal difficulty. I got my ass kicked on Hard at first. Definitely toned down from Forged Alliance in terms of resource management, but shifts focus to the war effort and strategy without the constant monitoring of resource influx. I love them all, and each version/sequel honestly stands alone.

A great game to spend long hours on if your fiending for Diabloesque gameplay. Spells and combat scheme are great, with multiple customizations to your arsenal that will stick with you--so be careful about your adjustments as you level up; a jack of all trades wont keep you alive in Ancaria! Spells are powerful, and combat is bloodthirsty. The camera could have been better, but with such good graphics they are often forgotten if you allow the smart camera to adjust itself, otherwise you will be worrying about camera adjustments and staying alive as well. Get passed the camera and this is a very funny, very unique game.

Great game. Starting to think it's better than FFXIII in terms of customization, skill trees, the invisible combat arts scheme for mastering pathways. I feel like i'm playing diablo 2 again, with a stack of weapon and gear guides. Game has the new game+ feature, which doesn't feel like an easy re-run but a 2nd chance at not %#*#ing up so many skills as i've done by not looking deeper into this game. Worth the regular price if you love good, long, RPG's with stunning graphics, a unique battle system, and the priceless option for original voice acting and subtitles.
