It's Theme Park Fallout. And like any theme park, it'a better with friends.

The only game from FromSoft where I've popped my summon purely for revenge.

My first dozen tries through, say, Blackgaol Knight? Rough as hell. Dropping in to help someone fresh? Catharsis bullying them knowing the patterns. Rinse and repeat for most of the bosses. Scadutree fragments aren't just optional, they're necessary, this DLC expects you to pop in with an end game build and then makes you engage with the new leveling mechanic, which buffs the damage *you* do, and debuffs the damage *they* do. Marry that with a semi-linear world, and you have something closer to a Souls game level of progression and navigation, since areas you visit in the future are visible in the skyline, or over the edge of a lethal drop.

Loving it so far, sometimes a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but mostly tough and fair, as the series is known to be.

Early Access Review
If F.E.A.R did Half Life's "We've Got Hostiles"

Intense firefights, gorgeous environments that have ImSim levels of interactivity, tons of secrets to find, and the cutest robot vacuum ever rendered in GZDoom.

EDIT: The newly added Special Campaign mode that you unlock after beating chapter 1 gave me an assault rifle that had a 17% chance of slinging a brick in someone's face. 10/10

A love letter to all things Remedy, with a focus on Max Payne. Fun, weird, and it packs emotional gut punches that had me taking a break between floors. Good game!

Who needs an axe when a good punch'll do?

So far a good expansion on what made the base game so fun, but with FISTS that put Prodeus to shame!

Thumbs down, the main character actually pronounces Emperor instead of Emprah.

Jokes aside - It's an incredibly solid boomer shooter. You feel big and stompy, the weapons are good and chunky (With a nice little nod to the tabletop in terms of their effectiveness), and the soundtrack chef's kiss

The only downside is the first hour is way too easy and really does not prepare you for the later arenas. But that might be a pro to some where Hard mode actually feels truly difficult.

A faithful remake of the original that sands down the rough edges, while fleshing out the later floors with more logs and taunts from SHODAN. Be aware, this game is very oldshcool in it's mindset, only the easiest story difficulty has waypoints. Keep a pen and paper handy to jot down codes and directions to save yourself the hassle of sifting through your log archive.

The story is super generic and completely forgettable (Your typical "avenge a dead dude" plot), the DLC campaigns have ludicrous difficulty spikes that make them borderline unplayable, and the AI (both friendly *and* enemy) can be charitably described as "braindead" at times.

BUT

If you can ignore all that, you'll find a pleasantly fun big stompy mech sandbox. The YAML mod series make the experience infinitely better, as well, but good luck trying to get them loaded in the right order.
