If you haven't bought the game already (so you're not overwhelmingly hyped for it), wait until Larian releases whatever equivalent of an Enhanced Edition they eventually will. Because while the first two thirds of the game are stellar... the remaining third is in dire need of months of work.

While the bugs could be forgiven, it is a large game with a myriad of gamestates at that point, the state of the overall plot and quests cannot. Disjointed questlines, cut content, issues with consistency (dead character reappearing in quests after dying in another one), and pacing mean that after the high point that is Act 2 ending everything comes crashing down.

All that though, I would have probably waved off if not for the endings. Or rather lack of them, I had never thought there would be a more disappointing ending than the original Mass Effect 3 ending. Yet here we are. Game ends so abruptly I reloaded a save to check if I didn't accidentally skip something.

Combat is also heavily influenced by Divinity Original Sin 2, so depending on your feelings on that, your mileage may vary.

For me, inn its current state, the game's an 8/10. If they fix up Act 3, reintroduce some of the missing content and make some actual endings it will probably end up a 9/10. Some of the narrative issues with Act 3 are probably beyond simple patches bringing the overall impression down.

The absolute state of the game when they can't even be bothered to make half the menus work with a mouse. Not to mention how trash it runs.

Otherwise, combat's ok 7.5/10, exploration as good as Fallen Order 10/10, and the story is an extremely mid 4/10 if I'm being generous.

While the core gameplay might be there, the game is not ready for release by a long shot. The main sticking points are the content missing at launch as well as atrocious stability & optimisation.

Ironically, as I am writing this the official community stream shared on steam shows the content creator's game crashing.

Edit: Took a year but I suppose we're there.

Early Access Review
Multiple years of development on what is an iteration of the two previous titles only to release a buggy early access with a vast number of perks not working. All right, I could accept that, but after two years in early access my patience with the state of the game is done. I cannot recommend a game I regret getting.

Will the game eventually, one day, be worth getting and playing?
- Almost for sure, if for no reason because of the modding community fixing and expanding what the devs can't (or are incapable of).

Is it now?
- No. And the development speed so far does not inspire confidence in how long it will take for that to change.

Game's great with a minor glitch here or there (no game breaking bugs, a texture glitch every hour or so). The requirement sheet seems to target 30fps so keep that in mind when deciding if you can run it at a framerate you find acceptable. Otherwise no complaints.
