I don't normally write reviews but when i do, they go like so:

New World is a beautiful game world.
The artists that did that work deserve high praise but that is all there is, a beautiful game world.

I would recommend saving your money and giving the game a try at a later date after they solve the many problems that this games has.

Excellent ARPG.

Interesting character classes.
Tons to do and learn.
Great itemization.
Excellent replayability.
Great community support.
Good modding support.

A little slower paced than some out there which means you have time to react before getting insta-gibbed.

Hit the forums and ask some questions before you buy.
I'd highly recommend buying both expansions or get the recently released Definitive Edition which includes everything.

Get the demo on Steam. (FREE)
Get your controls sort out.
Blow up some evil mining robots.

Slide and glide and circle strafe like you used to do in Descent.

This developer has nailed it.
This is Descent's successor in all but name.

Very impressed and looking forward to what the release version is like.

A16 Review

As a die hard veteran of this game it has been 'suggested' by various friends on Steam that i write a review.
(Write a reivew after only 6,000 hours? Pfft...FINE)

Away we go...

Buy this game only if you fully understand what Early Access and Alpha stage game development truly mean.

This game is incomplete and yet it still is one of most playable and enjoyable Early Access titles on Steam.

Watch some current videos and educate yourself on what you're getting into before you buy this game.

This game has a steep learning curve and while in game tutorials have been added the game does not hold your hand,

Buy this game if you enjoy:

-Fully destructable, randomly generated, ludicrously large game worlds.
-Zombies
-Crafting
-Zombies
-Survival
-Zombie DOGS
-Building system with structural integrity
-Zombie BEARS
-Mining
-Exploration
-Base defense (A16 added turrents and traps)
-And yes, good ole' first person, zombie shootin' goodness.

Did i mention that this game is incomplete?
Yes? Well ok then, let's all say it together.

7 Days to Die is an Early Access game which means that it is not finished yet.

The developer plans on completion sometime in 2018.

Updates for the game are about every 6 months.
The developer is active but wants the game to be built right so is taking it's time.

This game will not run well on a potato.
Performance is good but rough on average hardware.

Summary: Highly recommended for the reasons listed above.

Worth every penny of the $25 i spent on it.

Very well done...so far.

Arkane / Bethesda have more work to make the game performant.

The graphics are a bit too watercolor-ey for my tastes but overall the game is beautifully done.

Buy this game if you enjoy stealth and non-lethal combat solutions.
Do not buy this game if you dislike tedium because you will spend a lot of your play time waiting for the right moment to strike.

I felt like the game was constantly wagging it's finger at me not to use lethal methods to solve a given situation.
I chose non-lethal solutions for all the bosses and at least 50% of the combatants on each level and for some reason i kept moving toward lethal / chaos.

I'm not sure i agree with the morality system in the game since sometimes really bad people have to die in order to make the world a better place.

The developer has given me a razor sharp sword, pistol, crossbow, mines, upgrades and skills to make them even more lethal and then told me that i shouldn't have used them to save the world from some very, very bad people.

Perhaps i don't fully comprehend the subtle nuances the game was trying to convey to me.
(or the developer needs to leave their bubble and look out the window once in a while)

I still think the game is worth the price and Arkane / Bethesda deserve much praise for a very well made game.

But understand before your first play through that the well being of every hostile and non-hostile NPC in the game is your responsibility and if granny stumbles into a fire because a guard bumps into her while chasing you down...

...it's all your fault.

Reviewing V1.06

Buy this game if you:
1. Are a fan of the Witcher universe.
2. Own a console controller and have never heard of a keyboard/mouse.
3. Enjoy playing a game where movement simulates riding around on a Segway.

The only reason that i give this game a thumbs up is because CD PR makes an excellent attempt at breaking away from the typical "hallways and bosses" that many console ports seem to suffer from.

The game world is huge and beautiful and very immersive.
I applaud them for this effort because it is amazing at how well done it is.

Sadly, right in the middle of all of this beauty, there is poor Geralt stumbling over buckets, over steering into grumpy villagers and falling down hill sides with the interia of a refridgerator on his back.

Movement made what started out being a jaw dropping experience admiring what a developer could do with a game world into a chore just getting through the game itself.

Keybindings are perplexing since some can not be rebound while some can but will not work.
Similar functions require different key bindings. (Use and Mount/Dismount could use the same key but do not)

Bugged main quests, bugged side quests, bugged merchants and bugged inventory.
All have work arounds but taken together added to the chore factor of just getting through the game.

I would understand if the developer had built the game as a console exclusive then released it later as a console port.
Because then i would know that i'm getting what i paid for.

But when your game throws up a notification claiming to know that there is a keyboard and mouse present and it then claims to "adjust the control scheme accordingly" just what does that mean when you still spin in circles as if riding a tricycle when you move?

Did the developer ask PC/KB/M players for input when they chose to build a multi-platform game?
Or just PC/KB/M players that were die hard fans of the game?
Does the developer know that strafing for PC gamers is preferable to running in little circles?

More questions...

Why can Geralt not jump during combat with his sword drawn?
Is this part of Vessimir's "Witcher Safety Training for New Witchers" similar to how kindergartners are told not to run with scissors?

Why can Ciri jump with drawn sword but only after mashing the jump button twenty times only to have her perform all twenty jumps a full minute later? (very odd bug this one)

Summary:

This is not a cross platform game.
It is a beautiful, open world console game that happens to run on PCs (kinda, sometimes, maybe).

Save your money for when it goes on sale.
Maybe by then the bugs will have been patched as well but i have little hope that the terrible movement issues will.
