"Right now, it's a don't buy. New players will just get stomped by solo derankers with 5k hours in the game and when they complain about it they'll just get laughed at by the community. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CryTek probably won't fix is and doesn't listen because "solos make money." It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥." - 1895 review prior to MMR change.

So the devs fixed some things. Solos aren't around anymore. Who knew that would happen?

1986 is a great game. Superior to what Hunt: Showdown had become before the re-launch. In the beginning Hunt didn't cater to solos so much, so it wasn't that bad. Then it got worse. Now, they've fixed some things. Solos are still a pain in the ass. But once you've beat them in a gunfight, they're manageable.

The new map is great. The fights are fun and, even though headshots are really annoying, there are very little to complain about.

The UI is... different. They might be fixing some of the glaring issues, but it's manageable. And just something to get used to. A lot of wasted time and space, from a developer standpoint, but it's their game to show off.

The community is getting better. They still censor on their discord and mods are power tripped solos, but overall people are getting along better.

Buy the game. Play the game. Enjoy the game. It's well worth your money and time.

I can't vote yes and no. My review is mixed. I love the game play and the characters (even though some of the spam from some characters is annoying, as many of the other reviews have said), I just have one issue. This is a FTP game with two currencies. This isn't uncommon, one you get by playing (gold) the other you get by real money (crystal(?)). Again, common, no issue here, seen it. As a FTP game you can "invest" in a one time purchase as if you "bought" a real game. Again, this is also common. In this game it's the "All and Future Character Bundle." This unlocks all the characters for you, for a low price of $20. The big issue here is the "gold" currency you play to get (doing missions, logging in daily, win matches, etc.) is now obsolete with that purchase. It's just an annoying popup and counter now. Useless. Nothing in the store can be bought by gold except characters. Everything else (vanity items) is pay for with real money. This is a piss poor business model coming from someone in marketing, not the devs. I'm kind of tired of seeing "marketing majors" ruining the hard work of all the CS techies of the world.
