So many surprises!
Such style!

Why this is not overwhelmingly positive?

Well, the game is a great coop experience, standing tall next to other huge successes like Deep Rock Galactic.
It has a masterfully created PC version (while being PS5-first).
Monetization practices are the most player-friendly in the entire industry of "live-service" games.

Current PlayStation Account debacle is sad, but I will not be review bombing because of that. I would say that Arrowhead might better communicate mandatory requirement for PS account from the start (like, having a pop up (dismissable) every time you load the game), but the warning and info was there right from the start, though somewhat obscure.

The game looks nice, and its graphical design beauty promises something but does not deliver anything at all.

The first mission on 50% and 100% difficulties requires a long section of repetitive building of the same stuff over and over again, and cannot be sped up, and this is common theme in the game going forward. Coming to this from Frostpunk, the difference is huge.
You need to find a place to put a hunting hut, and it need to have certain distance to other hunting huts, no less than, say, 10 or 12 squares. But when you are placing the hut, there is no grid showing valid placements, or territory covered by another hunting huts, same with fishing buildings. The experience of placing a building like this is severely frustrating.

Exploration missions have very simple repetitive gameplay and require you to do pixel hunting in every room, and are way too long and NOT FUN (compare this to Alien Shooter 1 or 2, this is way-way-way more boring and less engaging than Alien Shooter)
"Tower Defense" missions would benefit greatly from micro-control empowered by the pause, but YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR UNITS HP without mouseover, and my first mission had about 50 units. And you can see your unit's health only by mouseover, or directly selecting a single unit, while you have about 4-5 groups of 10-12 soldiers blocking the way of 4-5 hordes.

The game is severely lacking better tutorial, it needs to spend HOURS of trial and error to understand basic concepts, after which you cannot refund the game.

Tried to make this game work for 8 hours, can't return now (((

This negative review is a feedback for 2k deciding to release Borderlands 3 as an Epic store exclusive.
This is not a feedback for Epic store, this is a feedback for 2k decisions.

Ok, DeepSilver asked for feedback on their decision to remove the last metro game from Steam after opening pre-purchases.
This is my feedback.

With kind of mixed feelings I recommend this game.
The whole idea, art and music are nice.
But devs put too much emphasis on "learn by trial and error" to the point where not just "when you do something for the first time, you don't know what exactly happens and what will be consequences", but "when you are presented an option to do something for the very first time, there is no indication of what are actually going to do at all". I was caught when I surprisingly send my troops to attack a portal.
So, the guides are helpful, but they also don't mention a lot of stuff like how to send your troops to attack, and how to not send when you don't want to.

For amount of content presented the game is quite long (especially when you are supposed to learn with trial and error).
For me it has zero replayability, which is a good thing (it's quite long and you can't stop playing it).

If you don't know if you should play classic or new lands - you should complete classic first (just once). It will give you a ton of perspective about what exactly happens in new lands.

And how do you complete classic? - you should have a ♥♥♥♥-ton of archers, they are the key. And you should try to never destroy any forest camps, enclose them with your buildings instead, you can then safely run across them and get new people from them every time, and new people become archers (let's say you need 50-100 archers on both sides in the end if this is your first playthrough).
