Always has been an absolutely marvellous game, the gameplay is awesome due to the audiovisual greatness. Great atmosphere, guns & tool options. Good learning curve.

But for the love of god, please get rid of the new menu, it's absolutely unusable compared to the old one. Who in their right mind would want to play this on consoles with crossplay enabled when precision is the one biggest factor about shooting in this game. The menu is really bad for PC users.

I do enjoy this game, as it's a lighthearted TD Game with simple, but good looks and mechanics. The only thing that bugs me is that due to the big random factor of tiles and events, more than half of the runs you start just don't feel winnable by default. Getting the right balance of utility, damage, buffs and economy is too based on luck to make a consistent game experience.

So in general, this is a wellmade game with a dense atmosphere and a steep learning curve. If you like grimdark & turnbased games you're definitely in for a treat.

BUT, as an enjoyer of high difficulty games, I would give you the following information ahead of your purchase:

- Yes it's hard, you will die a lot, especially in the beginning until you understand all the little mechanics at play. And there are MANY small little pieces that influence one another. The tutorial is good, but not exhausting.

- Speaking of tutorial and UI, there are some things where you will ask yourself why there was either no tutorial for some stuff and a few (to me) obvious quality of life changes haven't happened until this date. You'll get used to it though if you enjoy the game. It took me 30 hours to find the option on how to unlock new characters on my own, for example.

- This is not a fast game and not a game you can play without focussing on it to a certain degree.

- No matter how skilled you are, there is a LOT of RNG (random number generation) at play and all you can do is trying to mitigate bad numbers in a good direction. Not all runs are winnable and it can be frustrating to just get stomped by some random ♥♥♥♥ you could not have possibly prepared for (because of lacking items, character speed, whatever). It is kind of the point of the game, but be prepared for moments that don't feel like they are hard, but the game just tells you to ♥♥♥♥ off and start anew. I had many of those moments and still returned to play it after a while. You will get better at the game, but it's not entirely skillbased.

- It's about overcoming seemingly unfair difficulties (the lair bosses are hard and some stagecoach items make your run a walk in the park while lacking reasonable randomly offered items makes your run almost unwinnable) and your party setup is essential. This will take time and errors, but actually beating a whole run is very satisfying.

So yeah, kind of a mixed review. Can't say it's a bad game, far from that. I am enjoying it, but I also see through the game mechanics to know some people will be easily frustrated at put this aside as an unfair game. Which it is in some moments. But also quite a nice combination of ideas. =)
