Early Access Review
Ignore review bombers with 0-1 hour playtime. Performance issues fixed easily by enabling DLSS/FSR. For very early access, it's been pretty smooth. There's a lot more to add and improve on, but as a base game, it's got huge potential and is already enjoyable.

Lost Ark is an overwhelming game - which is both a good and bad thing. In terms of depth, mechanics and things to keep you playing, it certainly holds up.

It takes some time to get into. The storyline and voice acting are often laughable - but then you get hit with a massive castle raid with 1000's enemies to defeat in waves. The game surprises you while it can bore you through the levelling process. When I started I wasn't sure what to make of the intro/tutorial. When you get into the storyline it starts to improve, but the thing that holds this game up is the incredibly satisfying combat and customisation options.

I think there are WAY too many in-game currencies. The game guides you through all of this, to be fair, but I still think it's too much. I just want to crack on, level up and get better gear. You can just ignore a lot of it, but eventually, you need to figure it out, as it can leave you at a disadvantage.

When you get to the end game (it takes a while) - the way they have introduced end game mechanics as part of the final 10 levels (50-60) is a breath of fresh air. No more emphasis on grinding endlessly - instead the game encourages you to try different things. You can stick to what you enjoy and ignore parts of the game.

Having multiple alts, along with an easy way to boost x2 of them to 50 early on, is a great part of the game. Switching between characters and enjoying different play styles is great. The only letdown is the overwhelming currencies, which if you have one character, can become a hindrance to your alts. This is alleviated somewhat by the 'roster' account - which shares lots of these currencies and skill-boosting items.
