Now granted I'm only in the second area doing the quests against goblins and trolls etc....

I chose to play on hard and neglected camping (assuming there was a time limit or urgency) and also neglected gearing up people (assuming they were tutorial characters). Truth is, game was proving difficult because of that and yes some characters left but thankfully I save often enough that I reloaded and took their gear to sell lol.

Overall, I haven't encountered the bugs reviews are talking about. I'm enjoying the game although the story hasn't quite blown me away yet and I'm still curious if I'll have a permanent team of four someday because yet again another member left. I think for the price range, this game is quality enough and I think to praise the developers on 3 quality patches since their official release 12 days ago. That's not as common as it should be especially with 3 man developer teams. So applause there.

I'd recommend the game, if you're one to be easily disappointed or have a tight budget for a game every six months, maybe wait for a sale but honestly I think the price is right and as long as you're not expecting a baldur's gate 3 (full dev team, early access for years, still requiring tons of patches, tons of voice dialogue nonsense, high advertising budget to get Frodo playing) then I think you'll be relatively satisfied with the purchase.

Game is quite awesome and fun, playing co-op. only ran into one bug so far and it's hardly a bug, graphical issue? Noticed my fights were running sluggish and my friend wasn't having that issue, turned out v-sync caused a frame rate drop for me, so I turned it off, smooth sailing from there.

I'm sure there'll be other bugs as we progress, but owlcat typically patches a lot through their game's lifespan, so I have faith they'll be ironed out (The emperor protects!), if I even encounter any. (I didn't encounter many for the pathfinder series and the ones I did got patched the same week I did lol).

Loving this game so far and out to support starship troopers in general.

Yes there's bugs (lower and capital B), only one I've encountered was falling through extraction ship once. Yes, it will need optimization eventually. Yes, it's early access.

But it's a hell of a lot of fun and trying to resurrect your teammates during extraction is chaos.

To those who complain about mod support and server browsers etc....look how well Battlefield 2042 did.

Update as of late December 23:

Lot of people down-voting because of optimization and epic. Definitely ruining the review quality of a good game. I don't particularly disagree with it needing optimized or having epic, but its a solid early access game still. Epic I believe was installed for some cross platform reason, I already had it so it was whatever to me (I'm a steam guy all the way, I've just reviewed games on epic that were only epic). The optimization thing, really only the last big patch made things rough. This game does not deserve the hate for that patch or the optimization. They added a whole new planet style (volcanic) and fire bugs with that patch, of course it would likely be glitchy on release. As long as they optimize in a few big patches, it'll be like many early access titles. Anyway, I hope this game doesn't tank because of bad reviews on one early access patch, because it is going to be great in the end (and has been).

I haven't played as much as I should have by now, I bought it long ago and have played a little of it since 1.0 release. I recommend this game purely for one major reason and that's because the developers are active/ responsive/ and determined to fix bugs you may encounter as we often do in newly released games (or early access as it was for some time). The game itself is fun, I like the style, combat, overworld and dungeon. I think it's a solid investment for the price tag as long as you don't mind encountering bugs and reporting them to the developers.

Some negative reviews state that the game isn't ready to have left early access due to the bugs they encountered. I personally disagree. The game sat in early access long enough and based on the small team, it's very logical that they can't test every build, every scenario and because this is an indie game, the EA player base wasn't as huge as ideally it should be for a true test capability. Does it suck running into bugs on a released game? Definitely and the reviews are valid on that, however the devs are actively fixing and updating, so I honestly think the majority of issues players will encounter will be fixed relatively quickly. So I definitely recommend but buy understanding that you may encounter a bug that by nature is new to the developers based on the client's experience, hardware, etc...

I'm horrible at drawing, this game reminds me of that hahaha, but it's fun, relaxing, and I love it. Tablet support is super cool also. Maybe I'll get better, but playing this, I don't really mind my inability.

I thought for sure this game would get old, 50 hours in and loving it like the first time it launched. Watch a few streams of this, has lots of progression to keep you interested and has many varieties of bugs to squash. Also new updates often, definitely recommend it.

There are a lot of exceptionally detailed reviews at the moment for Solasta so I'll keep this short with a quick recommend. I backed this on kickstarter also, not that changes anything, but I'm in for the long haul either way lol.

I'm liking what I see so far, granted I have limited hours into it. I like the character creation (a bit limited though), I really like the environment kills, even though they might disable that temporarily during EA. I like shoving creatures off a ledge to their deaths lol. I even enjoyed when it happened to me, made me think more strategic than usual. I even enjoy the difficulty of lighting areas around enemies to avoid rolling attack rolls at a disadvantage. This game overall just feels good so far. I'll update if my opinion changes when I complete the EA content (quoted to be about 10 hours of content if I remember correctly).

The only thing that has significantly bothered me but I've gotten used to are close ups of faces during dialogue. The faces just don't look right to me, not sure what it is, but they look kind of wonky. I doubt they'll enhance graphics much for release, but it's a minor gripe and during the rest of the gameplay (battles, towns, travel, etc) it looks good.

Highly recommend for DnD players, although replayability long term may not be there, we'll see on that upon full release.

Also, I haven't encountered any bulls*^% puzzles like in Divinity Original Sin 2 (some of the last puzzles are the worst), but they may add that stuff later on, but thought it noteworthy.

****Posting party mix, forewarned:

So far I've mostly played this game with a friend. We got it on sale, totally worth the price paid and honestly I would think it'd be worth full price as well. I did beat a solo campaign on easy in addition to co-op. So far, as a team, we've beat the original for the king game and also the frost adventure. For the King took us a single try (apprentice difficulty, 2 characters minstrel and scholar) and Frost adventure took us three tries (Journeyman difficulty, herbalist, blacksmith, and minstrel was the winning combo for us).

Personally I'm really loving this game. I've had to basically debate strategies and class picks prior to starting a game, and we've concocted some good ploys that worked out. Tomorrow we start Into the Deep and let me tell you, I'm excited to stop taking cold damage every turn lol.

Sometimes the RNG is rough, like having a 92% chance to regain life at a lifepool, only to get the 8% fight roll and therefore have the lifepool disabled. It doesn't bother me though. Nothing in real life is 100%, why should it be in a game? It's frustrating, but its also a challenge because it makes you adapt to that ridiculous fail. Most of the time you can use "focus" and secure a 100% or a high percentage, just depends on the situation and whether it allows focus use, also depends if you can afford the golden root that replenishes focus. Frost adventure was the hardest on this, because the stores didn't update at the end of each day like they did during the normal campaign, so healing items and focus became super difficult to obtain. We had to enter the final dungeon a level early to avoid using more health items and the final fight almost destroyed us.

All in all, this game is fun. It's simple mechanics and at times it can feel a little repetitive and the RNG can make you hate life more, but the feeling of beating a campaign or the feeling of a dodge or crit, feels super rewarding. I fully recommend the game.

With all the negative reviews I had to add my own positive one. I first installed this game back before battlepass #1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. They changed the game, eliminated engineer, still enjoyed it although it did feel totally different. They added "chicken nuggets" which I liked lol, then took them away. Now they have gotten much closer to perfecting this game.
Is it perfect? No. Is it better than it used to be? I think yes.

The worst part is bots for most people. You'll see more of them in duos/squads from my opinion. I'm not a great player but I have more wins on record because of these bots. Solo however, I find I lose a bit more often which is oddly refreshing. The population is slowly growing again though from what I can tell. Definitely plus.

Personally I do not mind bots. I'd much rather have bots than a game with less than 30 players. Bots also add a weird element to the game. They give you shards for forging just like human players which also benefits all human players in the game you're in. This may seem like it breaks the game, but it actually helps everyone become fully equipped by the final circle. Also it helps new players grow as players by easier competition. Secondly, the bots tend to alert everyone by firing on targets which draws most human players in an area in for a fun firefight. Yes the bots are basic, but this is why I can be optimistic about them.

One thing that has changed from when I first started that I find a huge improvement and this came around the time of battlepass #1 was the shared lootable chests. Back when I first installed, if you played with someone else, if they opened a chest you had to share the loot or make your own chest route layout to divy up the shards and loot. Now all chests can be looted individually by every teammate so everyone can be around equal in progression.

Another thing, you used to have to kill other players to get "chicken heads" to craft gold weapons. They did away with that and personally I felt it balanced the game a bit more. Now everyone has a RNG to crafting a good weapon they want and you don't have to kill 3 players before you can do so.

Summary. Is the game great? I enjoy it, it isn't perfect but apparently I've put 171 hours into it and its felt more like 45 lol. I am happy they continue to work on the game, doing updates whether I agree with their "improvements" or not, a lot of games get dropped into oblivion. It has felt like they update as experiments and the population disappears or reappears accordingly, but clearly realm isn't dead yet so there's still hope it'll become a solid rival for all other battle royale games. Personally I've enjoyed it the most between Pubg and fortnite. I recommend this to all players.

Best of all, it's free. You can pay for battlepass but it isn't p2w which is great also.
