This is more like a incomplete tech demo than a demo itself. It has a lot of potential for the concepts it brings, but the story itself winds up just being there without giving you specifics as to what's going on. It's not worth the asking price even when it's free. Now that we know episode two is coming up, we'll see if they do a much better job on that installment.

But hey, at least the devs are kind enough to have their project files available! :D

The graphics and music are good and the overall concept of a futuristic fantasy world is worth world building on, but the out-of-place pornographic aspects really detracts from the overall story. It makes things even worse when the writing is a combination of dragging on and being maddeningly inconsistent, with awkward touches of suspension of reality thrown in. In terms of visual novels so far, I recommend Sounds of Her Love over this. If you're into same-gender versions, Dorakone and even waiting for Please Be Happy is the better option as well.

As a big fan of The Incredible Machine series, especially TIM2 with all of its improvements, this seems to be a good installment. It may not have the charm nor the right design choices like the previous games, but the overall mechanics of its Rube Goldberg device-like puzzle solving is still intact! The fact that there is Steam integration makes this many, many times better in terms of sharing fan-made puzzles. There is a good collection to try out, even to complete situational achievements that The Proclaimers will approve of!

But let’s focus a little more on the official puzzles released with the game! After you complete the tutorial puzzles – BTW, it only covers a small amount of the many parts this game has and doesn’t offer enough information on the overall mechanics of the game itself – most of the puzzles, even within medium and hard puzzles, range from pretty easy for a “medium puzzle” to outrageously situational where one pixel change in placement makes a huge difference. You’ll be assigned a certain amount of parts you’ll need to improvise with in order to complete your objective! When you complete the puzzle, you also have the option to see what the official solution is, where one’s reaction can range from “Huh…That makes sense!” to scratching your head in confusion as to why there is such a solution in the first place…

Meanwhile, half the music is really good, while the other half makes you wish TIM2’s more memorable Sound Blaster version of their music was there. And while there is good detail in the art, there isn’t enough personality or some kind of “OOMPH” from such designs. Maybe the not-so-good CGI in some of the art threw me off…

Amid the good things about the game, I would like to highlight the one problem other reviewers mentioned outside of the poor design choices and maybe very few stability problems in one or two puzzles: The UI is terrible!!! For example, there is no way for your mouse cursor to visually or audibly differentiate between the teeter totter and the rope you attached to it, making it think you will move the teeter totter than the rope itself. Also, when you place a part that is next to or partially off the screen, the controls that allow you to rotate the part, set its timer, etc. is off screen, prevent you to make such settings unless you move the part in view, make your change and put the part back. That takes extra time and throws off any minute placements you desperately need in-game. Even when it offers you the option to pan the screen for you to access it, it would be much better if there is a quicker “peek” option when you move your cursor closer to the edge of the screen in case this happens. And who would have thought you want to exit out of the game while you are creating a puzzle without realizing what that button is? >_<

Overall, despite its flaws, variable difficulty and lost opportunities, if you’re into puzzles this is still good. There will be plenty of other puzzles to solve when the official puzzles are taken care of and those with more creativity in their minds can have a great time making their own puzzles that will easily be shared here. Now we’ll see if The Incredible Machine 2 makes a successful port to Steam! XD

This game makes great use of full movement and maneuverability that you expect from a space combat sim. In practice, you can't make full use of it because every zone you go into are narrow corridors that don't allow you to make use of said movements, especially when you have enemies to deal with! And it's even worse when not only do you have both your weapons and thrusters tied to the same energy bar, but these enemies also appear from out of nowhere and in blindspots where you can't really dodge when you need to. It certainly doesn't help when the available upgrades seem paltry compared to the amount you actually need. Maybe this is where the Strike Suit Infinity series comes to play in this genre...

On one hand, this game has a weird premise with an open-ended, yet immersive environment that Frac OSC will never accomplish. However, it's a few notches too open-ended to the point where you need a guide to know where you need to be going. And considering you have to regularly backtrack through large environs with one of the slowest running speeds in video game history, it becomes a tedious exercise and the time significantly adds up. There should be an option to fast travel certain areas instead of taking in too much of the scenery. Also, while the Hint Glints are helpful, they only give vague hints for your puzzle solving outside of showcasing the lore in-game. As someone who likes a good puzzle, this was getting towards a disappointing walking simulator.

Also, can this game please use a regular save system that RealMyst has? Having one of the most unspecific auto-save system that doesn't let you know when it saves doesn't exude confidence...

I mainly play this game for the gameplay and the well-thought-out USA and Japan vs China geopolitics, not so much the mind corruption this game is known for. Overall, this is a BORDERLINE thumbs up game, and I stress the borderline part. I’ll back this up using a quick summary highlighting the good and bad parts of the game.

And considering this is a free-to-play gacha game, I’ll briefly review the F2P system. It’s pretty good, but if you use cash it becomes predatory:

- Seasons fly by slightly quicker than usual, forcing you to make the decision between non-stop grinding, pay the high price that you will regret in the long term or just focus on something else.
- Gems, the in-game currency, are relatively easy to collect, but it’s best to use them to unlock characters and AP potions than using it on a limited-time gacha that you’ll eventually need to pay in cash if you run out.
- Grinding for XP and materials isn’t efficient, even when you increase the rewards to the max. The game will make every opportunity to let you know you can pay to get through the game quicker.
- And because of the above, the crafting facility and even the XP and skill facility is your friend for the long-term! Fortunately, you can use the characters that have been assigned to these later facilities!
- Your characters can be equipped with three skill slots, which gets the job done! However, if you like the additional 4th skill you need to pay a monthly fee which will add up if you’re not careful (as of this post, it’s $30 per month.).
- There is also one of the most awkwardly implemented auto-battle mode in the form of Arena battles. Not recommended unless you like grinding for PvP stuff.
- Speaking of which, there’s a Tower mode for the endgame-seekers out there.

With as much as I can say about the F2P system, here is my quick rundown!

THE GOOD:
- Does a great job replicating the classic, arcade-y 3D hack-and-slash games from the 5th generation console era.
- Good variety of weapons, supporters and upgrades to choose from.
- You can try out the characters and their skills to see if they fit your playstyle before you unlock them.
- Even when you assigned your character to a training facility, you can use said character for your missions!
- Admittedly, the character models are very well done, albeit most character models are not proportioned correctly.
- The free to play system is pretty good…

THE BAD:
- …until you decide to use cash, from which it jumps to predatory (see above for some details!).
- Grinding for materials and XP is not efficient, even when you increase the rewards to 500%.
- Similar to above, you need to significantly level up your characters in order for them to be good, especially for characters like Emily, Murasaki and Kurenai. Otherwise, expect yourself to mash the attack button for 1 - 5 minutes on one enemy ad nauseam until you have the materials you need.
- Another hallmark of 3D games from the 5th generation console era is the awkward camera that may or may not move depending on where your character is positioned. You can’t even switch targets, which is annoying in the long-term.

THE MIXED:
- Story mode dialogue is immersive, albeit too much so to the point where it’s 5 or so lines too many. Fortunately, it is skippable, but some parts of the dialogue seriously need to be streamlined!
- The crafting facility and even the XP and skill facility is your friend for the long-term!
- PvP seekers can experience tower mode, as well as the awkwardly-implemented auto-battle mode next to it!

TL;DR - If you don’t like any form of mind corrupting visuals and predatory cash systems, avoid this gacha game like a plague! If you can resist the temptations and enjoy the simplistic, yet arcade-y gameplay, well-thought-out geopolitics and the fact you can use your characters after assigning them to a training facility, this can be on your “Maybe” list. Expect yourself to grind the living daylights just to get characters to be good fighters.

The “other” TL;DR - “I think Murasaki is a pretty cool gal. Seh cats dimoons and dosn’t afiad of anyting!”

As a classic Mega Man fan, this is a fantastic translation from the tried and true 8-bit to the modern high-definition version! The awesome head-banging music, the sharp crisp graphics and anything that makes the classic Mega Man series great is done near-perfectly in this version. Although Megaman/Rockman himself has changed compared to his superior 8-bit self, it’s just enough differentiation without looking like the awkwardly large Mega Man 7 sprite. Meanwhile, the story itself also looks like one of the best coming from the Mega Man games (Not spoiling it here, but it’s really well thought out!).

The overall difficulty maintains what makes the Mega Man/Rockman series a great game: Although it will appear really challenging on the 1st few playthroughs, after that combined with memorizing the patterns it becomes a really fun romp in the park! It may take a while to get through the levels, even on Casual mode, but the overall experience is really satisfying after you complete it! If you’re new to the series and/or you’re not yet ready for the big challenge there’s Newcomer mode. It makes things a lot easier (The infamous insta-KO spikes simply giving you damage instead, for example.) so newcomers can get used to the game’s systems and mechanics, while the pros can have a chance to decompress and have a good time! Speaking of which, like Mega Man 9 you can collect screws (the in-game currency) to buy whatever items and upgrades that will make things easier for you to traverse the levels.

There is also a collection of challenges for those who want to look beyond the main game, replays and leaderboards included, and achievement hunters will have a nice time overall.

So far, the only major problem I see in this game is a huge jump in difficulty between the Newcomer and Casual difficulty. Otherwise, this is a great Mega Man installment to look into, along with 9, 5, 2 and, IMO, 1!

Hey, I can still recommend Mega Man 1, even when I’m one of those oddballs who thought it was a cakewalk!! XD

A fantastic 2D mecha game with a major league asterisk attached to it, which I will talk about later! You can tell a lot of work was done behind this game. The sound, music, the opening theme and overall art (albeit looking like a high-def flash game at times) is amazing, right down to the overall feel of moving your mecha throughout the game! Although the controls will take some getting used to, you'll have a blast when you get the hang of said controls, from hovering, firing and the good melee action depending on the mechs and/or upgrades you choose.

The storyline follows the prototypical shonen anime plot, except in this case it does a great job showcasing legitimate realities while being a part of one of the many PMCs in the game. There's just enough plot twists to make it interesting and it thankfully doesn't fall into the trap of the "PMCs aRe baAaaAAaAAaad!!" narrative (I'm sure that one satirical reviewer from The Escapist will approve of that! XD ). The difficulty curve is very reasonable, with easy mode giving you enough time to take in the scenery, but don't let that fool you! I admit, the last two stages were surprisingly challenging even on easy mode. I can imagine normal mode will be just as challenging with the similar difficulty curve, which is a great thing!

And this is where I address the one asterisk that may be a deal-breaker to some of you: Remember the mechas advertised in their amazing trailer? That's only available in multiplayer as well as the Simulation/survival gauntlet mode. You only have one mecha to pilot in single player campaign and when you unlock the Simulation mode you need to grind to unlock many of the mechas available in that mode. Not so much for multiplayer, but if you don't care for that mode...

Speaking of which, the multiplayer is pretty good and hectic in a very fun way! There's also a split screen version for those who want to play locally, up to 4 players. With a neat variety of mechas to choose from, there needs to be more game modes outside of free-for-all and team deathmatch (at least as of this post, free-for-all is only available as a quick match option.). And this is a nitpick of mine, but the camera needs to zoom out so we can see the battlefield better, and NO the sniper mech's snipe mode doesn't count!! DX

Overall, if you love mecha in 2D platforming form as well as a multiplayer option, this is a definite buy! If you're mainly a single player person, wait for a minor sale until the devs figure out how to add the advertised mechas into their own campaign chapters.

A amusing, satirical take on games overdependent on DLCs, microtransactions and even situations that haven't passed quality control. It's relatively easy and the Metroidvania-like backtracking is very manageable with one exception or two towards the end. The humor is really fitting, albeit it does wear out near the end, and the actual final boss pretty much feeds on the programmable trope of throwing health and coins at you as you battle him. Keep in mind that there is no replay value after your done with the game, which might be part of the humor of this game as well. >.>

There's only one major problem I encountered with this game: It showcases how it's controller compatible, but I'm unable to use my Xbox One controller for this game. My cramp-y fingers were not happy using the keyboard!

It's a nice, short, ambient platformer that can make you want to do speedruns on. Get it when it's on sale and take on the ambiance, as well as the colors when you complete it! :D
