You know, point and click adventure games are not my thing. But I heard some good things about Stasis so I gave it a go and oh my god is it a wonderful game.

Great atmosphere and captivating setting, that just makes you wish for more. I had to read every log, every comment on the environment just to find out more about what happened and more about the setting. Voice acting is great, art is creepy as it should be and cinematics uncanny and janky, which gives them this fitting feeling for game such as this.

I just hope brotherhood continues with Stasis saga and brings are more stories from this universe, there is so much potential for futuristic setting, with body horror and biotech.

Loved every minute of this game strong 9/10.

Combat is fun, stealth not so much it can get tedious and I feel like there is not enough depth to the stealth system to keep the stealth fresh for longer periods of time. Train/soldier management is fun aswell, but I feel like UI leaves something to be desired, finding out which of your soldiers is occupied with what requires you to hover above specific place in UI to show you the information, it gets bit annoying after while.

I have played about 5 hours and I have made it past chapter 2 with plenty to go, so I expect the game length to be beyond satisfactory.

Voice acting (playing in Czech mind you and somehow I have hunch this might not be the case for english version) is mixed bag. Intonation during mission briefings seems to change alot for no reason as if the voice lines are stitched together. Some lines in missions to me sound like they are from a b-movie and are overacted, but that might be deliberate choice.

Other than gameplay I have to mention the art/artwork and great story/premise of the game. The game itself oozes love for the subject matter and you can tell developers put their passion in making this.

Even though I may seem critical in my review I wholeheartedly recommend the game, it is indeed something special even though it is not perfect.

Also, according to other comments it makes commies butthurt so that is also something that warms my heart.

I will recommend this game because I think it is a decent one. There is however one big caveat and that is that the first game does everything this one does, but better at fraction of the price (some 2$ vs 44$). Even when it comes to graphics, I think the old one has more charm than the new iteration.

If you do not mind older games, go for the Knights of Honor I, more bang for your buck.

That's my childhood right there!

This is a great buy for anyone who loves good ol' RTS games with base building. Gameplay is fun, mission briefings and tips even funnier soundtrack is really awesome and out there and so are the units. Only thing to look out for are few bugs, all can be solved by looking through the discussions here on steam.

Honestly just buy the damn thing it's like 5 Euros. You can thank me later, this game is a gem!

Game that has everyone freaking about politics is barely political at all (Thank god!)

A lot of people seem to dislike this game because they think it has some strong left wing agenda and it beats you over head with it all the time. Well I have played it and with few exceptions I disagree. If you are concerned about this aspect read along, if not you can skip this entire part and go to the review of a game itself.

The Politics

Let me first make clear that I have my own political biases and I am somewhere on the right of the political spectrum bordering on libertarianism. Why am I putting this into review? Well according to many others I should dislike this game because of agenda it is supposedly pushing that some view as strongly left wing. Here is my take, the game remains suprisingly unpolitical despite being about killing nazies and toppling down global nazi regime. There are two (2!) characters in the whole game that were in certain instances spewing some sort of political statement.

Grace - member of black revolutionary front
Horton - a communist.

The game does not comment on wether their ideologies are right or wrong it simply presents these characters as necessary allies in hopeless situation. And if you look at history resistance to nazies was usually made up of various groups that would not under normal circumstances get along. The position these people hold make sense within the universe of the game. Of course you would expect someone who is member of black revolutionary front to say some ignorant crap bordering on racism, of course you would expect someone who is a commie to shout something about the damn burgeouasie. But if you can suffer through about 2 minutes of Horton's communist manifesto, thats it, the game never comes back to it, it is there only to establish the character that is it. Once that is done I actually found out I kinda liked the guy, he is a drunk preacher type after all, whats there not to like. Grace however is a different story and that is because her character itself is kind of annoying. She joins you but somehow for some reason starts pretty much calling shots around. And you are like "who is this person even and why is she ordering me around?". I think it is problem with writing more than anything else, not the ideology.

Other supposedly political stuff people had problem with. Anya being pregnant and running around like a damn Wonder woman who ate a melon whole, killing nazies left and right. Yes this is stupid. First let me say that I think they were going for some sort of awesome factor rather than political statement, either way actions this character performs make no sense and are ridiculous. And it is not because pregnant women in 8th month of pregnancy can't sprint around and jump around doing powerslides. This is a game that has nazi robots, flying fortresses, submarines with nuclear cannons and Nazies occupying different planets in solar system, honestly I dont care about realism, reason why it does not work besides looking bizzare is that it does not make sense in the internal logic of the game. Here you have someone your protagonist loves, who is about to give birth to his children. If there is someone in the whole game who should be kept from the harms way at all costs from point of view of B.J. it is Anya. Yet she repeatedly dives into heat of the battle. Why? It just makes no sense.

Minor spoilers ahead

Lastly there is scene with Hitler and supposedly Ronald Reagan where latter is shot. Adition of this character seems unnecessary and I honestly don't know what were they trying to say by adding him. It is a shame because the whole sequence is otherwise pretty hilarious.

And that is it, that is all the supposed political controversy that is in the game, if you think you can "suffer" through this you are all set to enjoy the game.

The Good

The Bad
Weapon Variety
Weapon Design
Perk System
Pregnant Superwomen
Old characters not having much "screentime"
No proper Boss fights

The Ugly
Lighting
Bugs

Like in the previous two titles of Wolfenstein combat feels smooth and on point. Every shot from your weapon is satisfying and you can see/feel the power of every shot landing on the target. Takedowns with your melee look great. What I had a problem with was weapon variety. Throughout the whole game I used pretty much 2-3 weapons because some were outright useless or boring. Take SMG for example, even after fully upgrading it, it does little to no damage, there is no reason not to use rifle or shotgun close range. Grenade/rocket launcher besides being visually designed totally uninterresting has little use if you have grenades. Perks are similar story, the progression of perks just does not feel satisfying and feels grindy. Both Weapons & Perks are somethings that previous Wolfensteins did much better.

Locations are varied and interesting especially mid-game. I really loved the art direction that is again on par with previous titles, the retro-futurism just looks amazing and suits the universe of wolfenstein very well. What in my opinion messes up the experience and has even effect on combat is lighting which to me seems all over the place. Especially the bright white lights make it sometimes impossible to see over distance and strains the eyes. Bare in mind this is not contrast or monitor issue, no other games including previous Wolfensteins or Doom for instance have this issue. Maybe the dev team was going for realism, but it makes the gameplay bit distracting and doesnt work well with the pace of the game.

Characters and voice acting are both done well although it took me about half a game to start liking the characters with exception of Grace (see first paragraph). What I felt was shame is that characters from the previous game take the backseat to those who are new and they feel they are there just so there is connection to previous title. What I feel is a shame is fact that there is no proper boss fight or mini boss fight, that is something I always enjoy about shooters like Wolfenstein.

There were some complaints about length of the game especially given how much time you spend watching cinematics, however with side mission and collectibles you can spend well over 20 hours by pure gameplay. Besides after beating the game you can still play sidemissions, even repeatedly if you desire which take place in standard gaming levels.
Story itself is ridiculous from the get go, especially certain part where you find out whole Nazi regiment was hiding for months in your close proximity. However Wolfenstein was never about realism, wanting to have fun and not think about things too hard is something you should practice while playing this game. And if you can suspend your belief just little bit you will enjoy the story where there are actually some pretty nice twists that I did not see comming.

I have played game welll over year after it's release and I am sad to report there are still some bugs present, gamebreaking even. I had my game repeatedly shutdown after opening concept art on Submarine location righ after picking it up. This happened to me on about 10 seperate occasions. Furthermore my character was repeatedly getting stuck in doorway, requiring me to jump, which was annoying while trying to be stealthy.

Summary

Despite it's flaws this is still a great fun game, it is just that some game design and character design decisions were rather unfortunate and it damages otherwise fun and entertaining experience. It seems that there is solid core to the game it's the little things that are not as polished, designed and thought out as well as they could have been, which is a shame.

Me Pondering: "How many people would die during a nuclear war?"
DEFCON: "Yes"

If you want to have fun nuking your favorite cities, cities that you don't like, cities that you don't care about, if you ever felt like nuking Russians seems like a really good idea or wondered what would happen if Africans focused little bit more on developing nuclear weapons than chasing down zebras, THIS GAME IS FOR YOU.

Xcom 2 is alot like Xcom 1...

Does it mean it's good you ask? Well yes and no

First and foremost let me tell you I had a blast playing this game, it was a lot of fun, it was rather addictive, especially in the beginning and I am sure that anyone who enjoys turn based games is going to enojy this one. But when making comparison to previous titles (Xcom and Xcom EU) there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference and sometimes you may find game even lacking content-wise especially with Xcom EU. So without any further adue let's get into review.

Gameplay
Right of the bat, probably the most important aspect of the game. Xcom 2 in comparison to Xcom one had gone through some changes, this in my opinion serves the game well and was a right decision, but generally speaking it has only marginal effect on the gameplay compared to previous title. It simply seems the developers did not utilize full potential these changes offered. Examples would be, Your base is now instead of in the bunker on captured alien spaceship/supplybarge. Sounds cool? It is until you realize that it pretty much doesn't change a thing, now your base just moves around a map, thats about only effect it has. You also start out in undetected mode, giving you chance to sneak around the map and set ambushes, again that sounds good but you are only able to utilize this chance once every mission because once you spot the enemy units, they spot you and they get free move round. Onward from then the game plays exactly like Xcom. Things like this that were supposed to change the game turned out in the end to have very little effect on gameplay which is unfortunate in my opinion, it certainly doesn't ruin the game, the game is still fairly enjoyable, but it simply doesn't offer much new in gameplay. The Base building mechanic is still in the game but it does not offer much variety, or rather is very restrictive in options, you can choose from several types there are like 7 types that are mandatory and like 2 that are volunteer but you can win the game without them. So there is no reason to build any other than those that the game requires you to build so in the end, this aspect renders this mechanic pretty much useless.

Classes
There were some changes made to classes and their perks, here the changes are more obviuos and have much bigger effect on gameplay in my opinion. Overal I was happy with the changes, new perks/classes/specialisations, it made the game feel fresh and new. But then again here comes the point where the content offered in this game is smaller in comparison with for example Xcom EU. Whilst Xcom 2 offers some 4 + 1 classes Xcom EU has 1 or 2 more if I remember correctly. Now you might think that comparing basic game with full out stand alone expension pack isn't fair and you might be right but when simply thinking about value you get for your money Xcom EU comes out as winner. That being said I am sure we can expect some expansions comming our way even for this title and I am rather convinced that in the end the content offered in Xcom 2 will be at least the same as in Xcom EU.

Content
In case of content as in items, weapons, armor, etc. The Xcom two again is very similar to basic Xcom, You have your 3 tiers of weapons and 3 tiers of basic armor with some special armor ment for working in synergy with certain class. What Xcom 2 does better than Xcom is character customization and it offers weapon upgrades which is excellent but just like previous points it comes with certain flaws. Menu for customization is little bit messy and requires player to click in and out of windows all the time in order to change pattern on armor and weapon and accessories and colour of gear which can get little bit annoying. Adding upgrades to weapons was great idea but since you can put max 2 and there are some 6 types of upgrades or so it just doesn't have that much depth, but still is nice perk to have in a game. What I really found cool though was that your soldiers have dabing based on the countries they are from... well at least those from major ones (American, British, Australian English, German, French, Spanish). This again is a nice little cherry on top, shame this is not included for most or all countries included in the game, would make so much more fun to listen to all the soldiers quotes in different languages. It is also shame some countries especially from developed world are missing. As I said in previous point in the end the value you get for your money is much lower than in case of Xcom EU, now I know this all may seem negative but I just want to let people know what to expect before they buy the game, because surely it is good game and I don't regret buying it for full price but someone with high expactations might so be aware.

Difficulty
I have only played on normal difficulty and I can tell you especially in the beggining before I got a grip and got used to the game and researched some basic weaponry I had a hard time, which makes game so much fun. I love that game (although mainly in beggining later on it becomes rather easy) poses some challenge. Yet in later stages of a game when one has experienced soldiers with best gear the game becomes rather easy and before entering last mission it might get little bit repetitive and have this grinding feel to it. That being sad last mission is really blast to play! Anyhow, I would recommend some tweaking to the balance especially in later stages when sometimes your soldiers can get OP.

Glitches
A lot of people talked about probelms whist playing the game. My self personally I have only encountered few glitches in the process of completing whole campaign and most of the were simply cosmetical in nature nothing serious. If I remember correctly I have encountered one crash of the game, which in my opinion is alright given the fact I played the game week or two after release.

Summary
Even though this review might seem negative I just wanted to point out biggest flaws of the game all the good stuff that made previous titles great is included in this game too. I believe that if some form of DLC or expansions come our way the game has a lot potential to offer and maybe developers just hold the best stuff for expansions, who knows, overall the game is enjoyable experience especially given the fact that on the field of turn-based strategies there is not strong competition. 8/10

A snake drops Chicken eggs - Capcom Logic - would play again

Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game. It was first released in 2005 which makes it more then 10 years old, yet it still looks great

Gameplay

It is a port from consoles to a PC - second one. I played both, first one and this and I can say that this one is much better. Although controls can feel still sort of clunky, weird but bareable. Aiming is what you'd expect from console port... it is "consolish" at first it may feel really, really weird but after some 15-20 mins people will get used to it (whilst playing on mouse). As for the gameplay itself, for me game ran smoothly expcept for several occurances (reloading sniper rifle, some boss fights) when there was stuttering and drop in FPS rate, now that just might be me... eitherway it wasn't a big deal. The game is not that scary for those who are comming for horror factor. There are few times when you get scared but they are rather scarse... although if you are like me and get scared by sounds of weird breething and scary music, you ll be satisfied well enough. What I really enjoyed were Boss fights as they are each very different, there is wide enough range of enemies and changes in locations. What can get kinda annoying is protection of one NPC but that is only during few parts of one chapter if I remember correctly (thank god). There is wide range of weapons to choose from and upgrades (YAY!) for said weapons which makes gameplay and managing your money fun. You'll also need to look for hidden treasures and manage your ammo smart as it can be scarse at times. During the 5 chapters you'll encounter some 10 puzzles, some are fun, some are less so. Overall game plays nice and hours pass fast while you play, you'll enjoy your dose of cheesy lines and puns, tough macho proclamations by your characters and foes, few WTF moments and a lot of fun while shooting zombies heads off.

Graphics

As I stated before, the game is about 10 years old so don't expect miracles, some textures look good some don't. Overall I think that the game aged rather well, and gameplay makes up for the aging of the graphics anyways. What does look weird and goofy at times are explosions, those just don't look like explosions at all... it looks more like yellow bubble than explosion. But that is just small detail, I don't expect people are going to buy decade old game in expectation of graphics spectacle.

Extras

Outside of a main "campaign" or story mode, game offers several minigames that can keep you entertained for few more ours. Two of minigames are sort of mini campaigns, the third is sort of arcade stile game, where you play on maps from main game and you need to collect as much points as possible from killing zombies while under time limit. By playing these game you can unlock new costumes for characters in the game and more characters for the arcade style "mercinaries" game.

Summary

Overall if you enjoy console games, bit of action, bit of horror, 3rd person shooter and boss fighting I would not hesitate to buy the game, although I would recommend to do so, if its on sale as full price seems a bit much. 7.5/10

The third instalement of the Bioshock universe, the FPS classic. What was great about previous ones (story, gameplay, atmosphere, great universe, interesting characters) is also present in this third and last game in the franchise. The atmosphere here feels a little bit more "vintage" so to speak as the game takes place in the early 20th century. But that doesnt hurt the game at all (Unfortunetaly my favourite character A.R. from original isn't present... well sort of) I found the new setting rather refreshing and interesting and once again very creative. The DLC content is also great especially for those who suffer from nostalgia for the Rapture :). Same as the first game in the franchise this one also offers an interesting twist and story. What I find especially great is that your in-game "companion" - Elizabeth - who you are supposed to help doesn't get in you way as it is case with most games that want you to escort someone or safe someone. Here it is direct opposite and it sets an example of how to do this kind of stuff right as Elizabeth is quite helpful, usually scouting around for ammo when you need it during the combat as well as med packs, coins etc. She also has a useful ability that player can utilize. It is a great addition to already great gameplay basics that was laid down by its predecessors. This game great, definiteley buy, you won't regret spending your money on this one, and I can guarantee that this will be one of those games that will be stuck in your memmory for a long long time as it offers a great gameplay and emersive story experience. 10/10
