S'aight. Poor man's Hotline Miami. 3 hour campaign. Held 'C' practically the whole time to extend my view. Bow and Arrow is satisfying to use and can pick up used arrows. Would have liked a randomised arcade mode. If interested, buy when discounted.

I really wanted to love this game but gunplay is just far too jank and it doesn't make for an enjoyable experience.

Fun for around 20-25 hours. Some campaign missions feel impossible to beat without workshop mods and modifying scripts yourself. Destruction is pretty cool, but expect single digit frame rates even on top end machines.

I have a couple hundred hours playtime on the PS4, solid gameplay from the geniuses behind the original Halo games. Base game is free so i couldn't recommend it enough.

Pros:
Solid controls
Fun gameplay
Passive Upgrades that carry over
4 characters
A dozen or so weapons
Persistant and cool blood effects

Cons:
Not much content (feels like ~10% of Isaac's content in comparison)
A weird driving section (luckily you can skip this section)
Another weird 'train' level. Luckily it's short, i guess it's supposed to connect the story but i'm not feeling this part.

It's a pretty bare bones, mini-Isaac game with 4 characters & a dozen different weapons. Not sure there will be any more updates/content though so I suspect i'll be done with the game at around the 40-50 hour mark, which is still very good value. There's enough end-game content and variety to keep you playing for a while.

On a side note, i found out there's a mobile version too but after playing that for a few hours, i think it's an older build (last update 1 year ago) as it lacks dynamite (even though there are cracks in walls for hidden rooms) and only has a single playable character, but still pretty cool and i'd also recommend that if you enjoyed it. Controls

Edit: 62 hours and I've finally unlocked all achievements. Some items are bugged and don't seem to drop/appear in-game so the compendium has a few empty slots that'll never fill it seems. Still recommended though.

Surprisingly fun. Started the game expecting not to play for longer than an hour, got hooked. 1st playthrough (on hard) was around 43 hours (including loads of exploration). 2nd playthrough around 5 hours. 3rd playthrough i just had fun murderizing anything and everything. Found a few bugs and out-of-bounds exploits. Pretty fun overall. Get it if it's on sale

I had this on my wishlist for a while, picked it up on sale but i just couldn't get into it. Movement and shooting mechanics just didn't feel tight enough for me, that coupled with my distast for magic/fantasy i guess i should have known.

Wasn't a fan of the enemies either. Carrots? Uhhh...

I don't think it helped my initial impressions that i'd just previously played STRAFE and unconciously compared the shooting/movement to that game.

If you're like me, then i'd recommend STRAFE over Ziggurat any day.

-=DO NOT LET THE RECENT NEGATIVE REVIEWS PUT YOU OFF=-
-= After the initial bandwagon negative reviews died down, and just before this latest barrage of bandwagon negative reviews, the game had VERY POSITIVE reviews! =-

TL:DR = 9.5/10

This is, NO JOKE, my GotY winner for 2017 BY FAR (competing with the likes of Destiny 2, Killing Floor 2, Overwatch! etc.)

Ignore the bandwagon nublets who haven't played the game without the bias, if you enjoy QUAKE style fast-paced gameplay and tight controls and the rougelike elements of games like Nuclear Throne, you will LOVE this game.

A more detailed breakdown:
Look at my playtime, that alone is a testament to how INCREDIBLE this game is. I've been playing the Millennium Edition for some time now (under the Beta branch) and the new content is excellent. The new modifiers REALLY mix things up.

I deleted my previous review (which, again, was positive) and posted a new one to reflect essentially STRAFE V2.0.

How i played for the first 10 hours is ENTIRELY different to how i now play (and how STRAFE is intended on being played), so don't let the early impressions put you off.

Anyway, back to playing some more STRAFE. The only achievement i have left to earn is dying 1000 times, but com'on! A pro like me dying 1000 times? pfff, i ain't never not no n00b fool!

11/10
