+ Pleasing animation style
+ Interesting character development
+ Rougelike elements work well
+ Daily challenges & leaderboards
+ Replayability
+ Price

- Controls
- Cryptic

The most obvious point is the animation choice, which I find reminiscent of old hand-drawn cartoons. It works very well with the gameplay, suitably setting the mood for each stage.

There is no dialogue or text to guide you, and yet, the creators still evoke compassion for the characters.

When you die, you start over; but progress and exploration reward you with permanent new: masks; guns; and backpacks to choose, all of which grant unique skills. This helps players create a custom build to suit their playstyle. As you get better, every kill-combo of 5 rewards you with another Glyph, which is used as currency for items in the shop, or continues.

The main game is frustratingly fun enough to keep you interested for a while, but there are also online leaderboards and daily challenges too (which are a good place to try items you haven't acquired yet).

I don't mind how cryptic the game is, as it's part of the experience. My main concern was the "full controller support" that didn't support my SNES controller, so I played on keyboard. Unfortunately, for the first few hours, I tried using the arrow keys as demonstrated in the games animation, which felt backwards and wrong. Luckily, they've added use of WASD and 123 on the numpad as controls; but there should be something to indicate this. I only found out though trial and error.

I got the game on a great sale, so it's worth what I paid, but the full price might be a little steep (as are most Steam games to allow for discounts).
