What can I say that hasn't already been said?

Life is Strange is more than a video game, a story, or an experience. I remember following a heated discussion years back between game enthusiasts and the late Roger Ebert. While many developers and fans look at a number of the all-time greats as art, Ebert viewed gaming as solely entertainment and did not believe in true artistic value within video games. While any form of art and its inherent value is in the eye of the beholder, I like to think that Ebert would look at Max and Chloe's story as something worthy of his consideration.

In my humble opinion, this is an artistic masterpiece. From the beautifully hand painted visuals to the powerful soundtrack and incredible voice acting, there is no lacking in technical precision. The Arcadia Bay landscape presents the perfect 'Twin Peaks' setting for such an eventful, complex adventure to unfold. The abundance of cultural references and easter eggs throughout the story should put a smile on anyone's face.

The story itself is compelling and well paced. Surely, there are detractors who have pointed to potential plot holes and problems with the build up to the climax. However, many modern classics such as 'Lost', 'Interstellar', and 'Donnie Darko' suffer from the same syndrome. That is, an absolutely breathtaking journey with a less than desirable destination. At the end of the day, though, isn't storytelling; nay, isn't life itself, all about the journey?

This journey is one well worth taking. As you navigate your strange life in the shoes of Max Caulfield, you will be taken on an emotional roller coaster that even David Cage would be proud of. Even as I sit here writing this review, reminiscing about those 5 special days has my eyes watering. The choices you make and the resulting consquences will more often than not tug at your heart strings. But that's okay...just embrace it and hop aboard the feels train.

DONTNOD Entertainment have written a love letter that most romantics could only dream of. A well deserved love letter dedicated to a lifetime of wonderful artistic influences.

Arcadia Bay is a place I will revisit for the rest of my life.
On second thought, perhaps I never left.

Thank you
