This game is awesome, isometric souls like.

Needs some work in certain regards, but shows a ton of promise.

Wow - I cannot believe this is rated so low right now. This is quite a good souls-like that has a pretty fun gimmick. If you like that style of game then it's worth a shot for you. The devs have been aggressively patching this game since release (nearly daily) to crush bugs and get it up and performant and the improvements have been noticeable. On a 3080ti w/ 10700k my game runs near flawlessly on 3840x1440, really can't complain much about performance in my experience.

Some of the bosses are a little mid, but the world is pretty interesting and laid out well. The umbral plane is generally done pretty well and there's a lot of nuance to how it works and they tend to mix up how its used to solve map puzzles.

This is a wait for sale for sure. I am not sure how much Bethesda's marketing team paid reviewer sites to get this turd so many 10/10's. This game is not terrible, but if you compare this to most modern games that are similar it just falls short in too many categories to warrant the A+/S Tier praise.

(B-) Story - The story is ridiculously bland and safe and lacks heart and punch that modern story games have when done well (see Baldur's Gate 3 for example). Normally story is not a critical component for a game, but I think for a game in this genre it needs to be decent.

(D) Combat - The flow of gameplay is much improved from prior Bethesda titles, but the AI is not. AI is barebones and simplistic, you will not be wowed or made to worry by any opponent in this title. If you enjoy power fantasy this likely won't be a large issue for you, but if you like a challenge you'll not find that here.

(B-) Exploration - A bit of a mixed bag, the game doesn't look great and the procedural generation lacks.... sense when coming up with planet formations, it's just like someone put the slider to random in some areas, mountains etc and ditches don't make any sense. You cannot fly your ship around to explore a planet in this game like you can in No Man's Sky, the ship in general feels very tacked on and not fully realized which is a shame considering the ship builder is a really cool component to the game. Also whoever thought it was a good idea to require you to scan each piece of flora and fauna 8 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times on each planet you visit was smoking some good space rocks and they ought to share. I'm not going to get bent out of shape regarding the 10 square kilometer grid limit, but that is likely why we can't fly the ship or do anything cool with it on planets. It's just a shame.

(C) UI/UX - Dear ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god here we go - this 20 year old user interface has run its course. The amount of times you get hung up on some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like your weight getting too full or getting locked in combat so you can't grav warp in a quest you will 100% get one shot by your enemy if you don't warp immediately VIA the MAP not in game commands is insane. Whoever designed the Keyboard and Mouse controls for generator power allocation should be ashamed of themselves. Spending a ton of time designing a ship only to accidentally cancel out of the build you were working on is very frustrating. This ♥♥♥♥ will all likely be fixable by mods in the future at least.

The only thing keeping me trying the game is the price I paid for it - I'm full on in sunk cost fallacy mode and I'm hoping to at least complete the campaign just to see it through, but I'm certainly not hooked. I also wanted to say that I am not trying to dash anyone elses hopes or joy in the game, I just think it's absolutely absurd that this is reviewing as well as it has and it seems utterly ridiculous to me that potential customers are being misled.

If you're remotely on the fence for Starfield wait for a sale.

A great difficult game that creates a feel of wonder and awe with high replay-ability. If the idea of punishing yet fair fights with up to two of your close friends sounds great to you this is a great title.

There's a little bit of performance that needs ironed out, but the game looks great even on Low settings in those regions. I look forward to enjoying this for months to come.

A gameplay driven experience, rather than a monetization based experience, a breath of fresh air in 2023.

One of the best city builders I have ever played. Easy to pick up, but becomes very challenging as you progress and has a very long on-ramp for difficulty so it can really be enjoyable for anybody. It also features some nice training modes with full customization and daily challenges as well. There's a lot of content here in a cheap package and the game also receives very regular updates (every week or two as of writing). They're constantly adding more depth and polish to the game systems. It is simultaneously a relaxing, yet challenging game that I enjoy when I am trying to wind down.

It is a rogue-like city build too at it's core so you will be earning currency and such to improve your future runs, although limited to eventually arrive you at a balanced game state where you can still be challenged. You always have full control of the difficulty though so you can dial it to your mood at any given time.

This game may also have extra appeal if you really like card games or board games as you have to make some careful choices as your games go along and it definitely rewards carefully thinking about your choices!

++Looks and plays fantastic on an Ultrawide monitor!

The definitive BEST deck builder style game ever made! Simple introduction masks incredible depth and being able to play it with friends just adds to the gameplay and enjoyment of such a wonderfully made game. This is not only a great deckbuilder, but a piece of design that stands out from the crowd of underpolished products that have flooded the market as of late.

It's pretty fun if you like Tarkov/Hunt etc that kinda bit more hardcore game. Gameplay differs a fair bit if you're playing alone or with friends (Better with friends), but it's a pretty solid stab at the genre.

Could definitely use some polish though - map 2 needs an optimization pass still. I will also say that solo play in this game is far less forgiving than the aforementioned games with lower TTK. Unless your aim is approaching aimbot level you're gonna have a really hard time taking on more than one assailant, even if you get yourself into an advantageous situation.

I dare say the worst thing about this game is that you will never spend a better 3 dollars in your entire life.
