Total War: Warhammer II is a must for any campaign / strategy fan. It's one of the best games in general because:

1) It was already a polished game at launch and not typical forever alpha buggy out game that has been dominating the market for a few of years now. Over its this series run it has been tweaked for balance and old factions were updated to be brought in line with the newer content, but it was never a buggy game. It just became an even better game. This is starting to be a major criteria for me personally - I'm done with the alpha launches that cost money. If you want help testing / developing your game and it's 2-3 years away from being in a form that is passable as complete, the game should not cost money. It's nice knowing there are still business models where a game is a complete product at launch. It's a BIG PLUS. Companies like this need to be supported.

2) Factions are varied and nothing is cookie cutter. The game is balanced. Sure, there is top tier factions in pvp meta that changes as tweaks to the game are made. And yes, there are stronger and weaker match ups for factions, but it's fairly balanced overall. The campaigns themselves are in-depth and fun and host a variety of different unique mechanics that highlight the type of lord/race you are playing.

3) CA has done a great job of translating a massive universe with 30+ years of lore. I was not familiar with Warhammer Fantasy and had no idea the depth of this franchise. Over the course of playing this game I've also picked up some of the lore and it's very well done from this point of view. I don't really play tabletop games, but from what I've picked up, CA has also done a great job of translating the tabletop rules into interesting Total War mechanics.

4) The community and content creators for this game are some of the best. I'm not going t o name drop anyone but there is just so much content to help a new player get started and some very entertaining content creators out there that drop daily content.

5) MODS, and tons of them. There are great mods out there. Whether its expanding unit rosters to expand on lore, graphical updates, game overhauls... it's all there.

As a package, this game has it all and is very in-depth with tons of replay value.

This game brought back Escape Velocity nostalogia. 10/10 - it feels more like the orignal EV rather than the any of the EV sequels.
