I installed, uninstalled and re-installed this as it took a little while to get used to its benefits, and accept that it has to be data mining in order to be profitable for the people who made it. However as its free I've decided I can live with that, and its certainly giving a lot back in terms of keeping track of my exercise activity across a range of different VR programs.

One of the things its definitely worth doing is going into the notification settings on the web Page. I couldn't find an easy way to do this from steam, but if you go to app.yur.fit while the program is running you can see your statistics and on the right there is a way to stop the RIDICULOUS number of emails that they spam you with by default. Looking at their posts they actually seem quite proud of this, and the unsubscribe button doesn't actually do anything unfortunately. Once you have done this though you can see your inbox again which is nice....

Overall I would recommend as it provides a very useful service without an upfront cost. You just need to spend some time getting used to the various settings to get the most out of it.

Thank you Devs.

:-)

As others have said having the legendary weapons from the start makes the game a lot easier and therefore removes the challenge. After playing this for a few years I have finally had the balls to start a new game without them (just sell them at the start) and its much more satisfying.

Skyrim VR reminds me of the expensive plastic model tank kits I used to buy as an adolescent.

You really want it, despite the price. When you get it you have to spend a lot of time putting it together, plus there are bound to be some pieces missing or broken you have to fix. It doesn't come with glue, or paints, and you have to get these separately. Plus it really needs a base which you have to make from scratch.

After a very, very, very long time you are sort of finished. And a bit older now. It doesn't quite look like you thought it would and you are painfully aware of all its little imperfections. No matter what you do you cant quite get these right.

However you love it none the less, not least because of the time and effort you put into making it, and the sense of achievement that gives you. No one else has one quite like yours.

Whether you actually ever play with it afterwards is another matter of course.....

Early Access Review
This is a great game, and I would recomend it even at full price. There is a supprising amount of content and an excellent feel to the various weapons.

The graphics start of a bit blury initally, however as long as your system is half decent (and mine was built to a £500 budget) you can ramp up the settings and it looks fine. Perhaps not quite as polished as an AAA title, but good enough given the setting.

Really impressed, and keen the Dev's get the recognition they deserve here.

Just be careful with your room set up, as you may well flail around a bit when the zombies overwhelm you!

This is a fun and involing game and well worth the money I spent to get it while on sale, and I would recomend it to you on this basis.

Having completed the final mission though there is just that feeling that is could so easily have had more replay value. The comparison to FTL is being made by a lot of people, and while it lasts I think that Ironcast holds its own in that comparison. The problem is that once you have completed it there really is nothing for you to go back and do. Yes you can get more special abilities, or try and complete it with a different character or Mech, however there just isn't any motivation to do so. Unlike FTL there is no graphical table of acheivements, and all the mechs are available from relatively early on rather than being earnt by completing the game.

So I recomend getting it on sale and enjoying it until you have completed it. Just don't expect a vast amount of replay potential I'm afraid.

I read the negative reviews, and like everyone else I'm luke warm about a tablet port of a great game wihtout proper consideration of the needs of PC owners.

Having actually bought it I can tell you that enough of the original "fun factor" remains for it to be worth it though. I dare say if I went up to the attic and found my CD copy from the 90's, ran dosbox or equivalent, sorted out the drivers and set the XMS memory allowance up properly I could have a more authentic experience. However, much as I may be nostaligic about the "good old days" of DOS gaming the reality is that I'm just not going to find time to do all that these days, being maried with 2 children and a full time job.

As a way to relive a bit of my youth, albeit slightly flawed, this is worth the money to me.

How to enjoy this game:

1: Get the Delux version for a fiver on a Steam sale (dont even consider the standard version)
2: Buy a cheap windows tablet like the ASUS T100 and install it using Steam
3: Sell the "legendary weapons" for nothing to get rid of them as they completely unballance the game
4: Play it on touch screen like it was designed to be played.

Its given me many happy hours this way. I'm fairly sure I wouln't have enjoyed it that much using a mouse and my desktop PC though, and the DLC issues would have really wound me up if I had not got everything at the begining.

DEFINITION OF THEFT

If I have paid for a product and service under an agreed set of conditons and then the other party witholds that service unless I agree to unresaonable demands with no offer of a refund.

One day these people will be challenged in a court of law. Their behavior is on a par with Bankers, Loan Sharks and Car Dealers.

Dont give them your money - there is no reason to believe they will honour their end of the deal.

Its OK, and if I hadn't played DG1 then It would be great.

The fact of the matter is that they had an impossible task; to take everything that people loved about the first game and some how make it better and new. It has a few new aspects to it that are interesting, however it will never be the classic that came before. Die hard fans with sky high expectations are always going to be disapointed, and that includes me too.

It is definately worth buying though, and I would recomend it to anyone who played and enjoyed DG1.

Paid Mods are Wrong.

Just adding my vote.
What makes this stealing worse is that they have the audacity to dress it up like its some sort of ethical stance.
I've NEVER posted a review before despite first having a STEAM account when I needed it to get the newly released Half Life 2 that came free with my graphics card (Yes, I am that old). However this has compelled me to join the chorus of people complaining.

This is basiclly in line with prostitutuion - its charging for something that should be free.
