Naval Action is one of the best games I've played. I'm including the the upcoming arena version (http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/forum/85-general-discussions/) when I say this.

The fighting mechanics is where it's at for me. The Game-Labs dudes have made a game with absolute spitzenklasse combat mechanics. This is unsurpassed Aces High levels of glory with ships.

A lot of people enjoy the Open World aspects of trading, crafting and faction warfare. That's not why I'm here, but I can easily tolerate that stuff when the fighting is skill based and this good.

It's still in development and there is a bit of struggling with certain balancing aspects, but even so I recommend this game to anyone who takes his or hers gaming seriously.
