Easily one of the best run and gun shooters around right now. As you progress, your movement capabilities just get more and more extreme. Every class has its own flavor and they are all so good once you learn their strengths. If you like rogue-lites and fast paced movement shooters, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this

Hollow knight is going to be one of the best games to come out of 2017. It does everything you want out of a metroid style platformer. Its not Metroid-vania due to the fact that there is no loot drops from enemies. Game is very punishing for incorrect spacing since it is a melee combat game, however, the combat is absolutely fabulous once you start learning the little subtles. Once you do, combat is almost like this beautiful dance as you fly around the area. There is a little bit of artificial difficulty, where the developer just shoves random ♥♥♥♥ at your in the middle of a fight. Its hard just because there is a lot more ♥♥♥♥ on the screen to dodge. This can get frustrating when certain enemies track you and will force you to get hit at times when you get zoned out. However, this is a small annoyance that is rare and that didnt take away from the over all experience.

The soundtrack and atmosphere of this game are second to none. This game demands you wear headphones. There is a plethora of things to discover and many NPCs hidden all around to world so it doesnt just feel like a barren waste land. There is still sanity left among the madness.

For 15 dollars you definitely get massive bang for your buck. I am closing in on the end of the game with around 15 hours of play time. Very respectable for an indie title.

Hollow Knight gets a solid 9/10 in my book. People should be warned that this game can be very punishing and for people that get frustrated easily, certain parts of the game will get to you (mostly optional stuff). This is a metroid style game but by no means is it as easy and relaxing as Ori and the Blind Forest. Melee combat is and always will be punishing. This game demands your respect and in return you will be left with one of the best metroid style games i have ever played.
