My friends tried for years to have me try out the Dark Souls series of games. I never understood the appeal of a game where you're expected to die over and over again and "get good".

In 2024 i yielded and got the first 2 games. My friend looked on as i did the first 30min of the game trying to progress past the skeletons in at the graveyard near the beginning, this is not the correct first path he let me know after i had died 10+ times and gotten to enjoy the sight of my misery for a while.

Today i finished Dark Souls 3 & i am glad i got talked into this series of games. I learned to enjoy the sweet release of death as part of the journey. Every place had their own challenges to overcome with a bit of dying and learning how different enemies fought.

Before i go i want to thank Havel The Rock in DS1 for smashing me to the ground dead in one hit as i took one step through the door from the Darkroot Basin entrance. You truly gave me the greatest laugh and joy as i made it my mission to exact revenge, you damn fortress!

Like many others i got stuck doing a lot of Gwent matches, the mini-game in Witcher 3 that now has its own stand-alone title. Marvelous fun and challenge in a little card game that by now is anything but small.
I enjoyed the combat and learning when is the right time to dodge or parry attacks which sometimes weren't clearly apparent but that's mostly ok since it adds to the challenge.
Storywise i love everything about the witcher games aside from the endings, they're not bad but i may aswell stay midstory forever since that is where i fall in love with the game, character interactions, intrigue, what will happen if i do this(?) and so on.

I installed one mod to the game and that was to see every (?) on the map so i could to the best of my ability experience everything the devs put in the game and i cannot say i ever had anything but a feeling of wonder and awe, it's a living breathing world that at times make you believe you're truly there if you just let it take you.

A game with great potential if it wasn't for the annoying bugs, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers & a neglect of their own game.
The delay between action and until an oposing player sees what you do is about 150ms which is INSANE in multiplayer, compare this with average 50-60ms if not even lower for Blizzards own game Overwatch.

Couple this with servers being unstable more often than one would naturely be ok with. Getting mathmaking errors once or more per day, matchmaking taking forever and estimated time never estimating.

If the delay were brought down to overwatch levels & servers actually behaving like a AAA server should i'd give the game 4/5 but now it's only 2/5 for me, it's simply not ok to neglect server issues. Also did i mention it most of the time takes about 5 seconds to load into a weapon customization option... not ok.
