Quake Champions is still calling itself "early access" despite being almost entirely abandoned by the publisher. Nevertheless, it has become a truly excellent arena shooter after years of slow but incremental development.

The varied movement mechanics of the different champions are very fun and rewarding to learn and truly open up the metagame in a somewhat stagnant genre.

Unfortunately, the GaaS aspects of Quake Champions are a step back from previous iterations in the franchise due to a lack of mod support, map making tools, or custom servers.
