badly optimized and very buggy, would say let this cook for 2-3 years but looking at how offworld destroyed squad performance with their ICO update i wouldn't expect very much.

10/10

Some issues here and there but overall the game is extremely well fleshed out for a beta. Gun balance might be an issue but given the response speed of the developers I have no doubt any balance issues would be fixed fast. Give it a shot, its free and its fun.

This game doesn't have set classes, it gives you tools to create the type of build you want to play. Obviously classes still fall into certain archetypes but the point being is that there are hundreds of ways to achieve the type of gameplay you want.

You can be a 19k hp glasscannon that nukes the screen

You can be a skeleton mage summoner that offscreens maps

You can be teleporting fighter that nukes the map with one skill

You can be anything.

Preacher is a melee class encouraged to play at low health, but there are ranged mobs everywhere who remove toughness in a 1-2 bursts, and enemy melee attacks go through toughness. This wouldn't be a problem if you could actually dodge but they changed the dodge reset timer to be roughly twice what it was before. In fact, if you liked fast, mobile gameplay like in VT2, good luck lol.

If you're a casual it'll probably be fine, but once players start trying to play at the highest difficulty they'll see the serious fundamental issues in expecting a pub group to somehow clear high difficulty missions.

Also snipers sit too far out for DLSS to render properly, lol.

I want to like it. I really do, the foundation for what could turn out to be the best MMORPG of the decade is there, but the developers continuously push rushed patches that seem completely out of touch with what the player base wants.

The fields are fragrant and the forests are a bright, verdant green, one may sit here for countless hours abay exploring beautiful landscapes and marveling in the natural, lush landscapes while harvest materials. I've never enjoyed fetch quests but they've implemented it very well in New World.

Combat and PVP was initially "average" with Great Axe and Hammer being dominant because of the high damage bruiser-like playstyle, while Mages were the squishy DPS counterpart to the tanky bruisers. Then came the nerfs to undertuned weapons, buffs to overtuned weapons, combine that with numerous weapon bugs (for instance, hatchets, for a time, were able to infinitely stack a buff which gave them a flat damage boost), terrible hit detection and empty servers.

The nail in the coffin for me, a primarily PVP player, is the recent input buffer changes which is supposedly meant to "balance" animation canceling. Keep in mind, fundamentally PVP is meant to be souls-like (dev stated), meaning a combination of timing, animation canceling and dodging, and input buffering has been met with negative feedback especially in Dark Souls 3, where the gameplay is much faster.

What happened instead is them having completely gutting Great Axe, Hammer and Bow by making it as clunky and unfun to play. The bow is hit especially hard because it already had incredibly terrible hit detection alongside every other ranged weapon in the game, but the velocity of the other weapons make up for this inane implementation of hit detection netcode. While I would still consider the bow very strong because of its damage, it feels completely awful to play.

Fire/Ice magic having completely the wrong priority for the input queue. I'll have pressed weapon swap at least 2 dozen times and my fire staff will continuously queue light attacks. Its comical that every time I weapon swap it's basically a coinflip as to whether or not my keypress actually registers which punishes fast paced gameplay.

TL:DR AGS probably has a good foundation for the Lord of the Rings game by screwing over millions of players. You can buy it and try it, and it can be fun, but you too will eventually be frustrated by an incredibly shortsighted change the developers hastily implemented.

0/10. Awful A2G and HE vehicle farm simulator. If you enjoyed the fast paced infantry combat from BF4 or BF1, don't bother. Large, open maps with little to no cover between points, vehicle spam dominates breakthrough. Terrible visibility with long midfield fights, combined with 45Hz servers makes gameplay feel anemic, and that's only when the servers aren't bugged to begin with.

2023 January Update: Honestly the game has gotten better but I wouldn't touch it until it goes on a full blown sale (say 5-6$). The game has some core fundamental issues such as visibility, recoil being bugged since beta (check out Baranox's explanation), and the only playable maps are non-core so its a dice roll whether you'll have a decent time. I won't say its unplayable but its not worth your time or money.

Having about ~3000 hours on another equally as buggy shooter, I suggest looking elsewhere for an FPS fix.

Satisfying melee combat and repetitive but satisfying gameplay. Game gets better the higher difficulty you play, so it is definitely worth investing at least 20-30 hours getting familiar with at least one character and one of their weapons.

Worth it to note that while some weapons or classes are DLC locked, the default classes and weapons you can obtain from simply leveling can be strong and getting them isn't very hard.

TL;DR they updated the game and content bloated so much the servers couldn't handle it anymore, so they did something to the servers and hitreg by automatic weapons is terrible. When 60% of the games infantry fights are indoors, with decreased TTK, being damage dumped in half a second occurs far more frequently now due to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ netcode, and the spawn system is gimped for defenders, very difficult to pull off any sort of aggressive maneuvering anymore and fights end up ultra stale with people literally camping angles.

Weapons used to occupy "niches", now shotguns are given dozens of tools that outcompete weapons that occupy different niches. There's rarely reason to use an Assault Rifle indoors when you can simply use an auto shotgun with smart choke and smart grip.

Class balance thrown out the window for the sake of "consistency" when the reality is you're forced into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ meta of either OHK shotguns or playing incredibly passive with a battle rifle. Aggressive play with any other weapons is now punished heavily because they gimped the spawn system and reducing TTK resulting into a passive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ meta.

People who argue every class can use the shotgun/battle rifles are part of the problem. There was a niche every class would fill and you would play that class in order to fill that niche, however because of Arsenal, the lines are blurred in such a way support classes outcompete frontline classes now. Yes, every class has access to shotguns/battle rifles, but the support class abilities and passives are far more suited for playing passive, and frontline class abilities do not, and are depleted with one use now because they've nerfed the Adrenoshield and removed Nanoweave.

Maybe the Heavy is just forced into a different niche now, but I rarely seldom see a reason to log on and play anymore.

EDIT - July 17th
I can wholeheartedly recommend against playing this game now. They've destroyed the servers and destroyed performance in the last patch, in a game where FPS is tied with RPM this is disastrous. We however have a new boat for the casual whales for a continent tailored to casual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!
