After playing for almost 8 hours after the first update, i can say the game is a lot better. Online on the second game is still iffy though.

First thoughts. Will update when i have more time to play.

So, starting with the big issue. The game has a microtransaction based "Battlepass" system and an in-game store that shows up when you start the game and is littered through the in game menus. It also appears as though you can use this to gain XP boosts to upgrade your rank and get ahead of everyone else. Huge spit in the face to the fans and the sole reason I don't recommend this game. I understand it is "free to play" but we all know their sole reason for doing so was to milk the microtransactions as much as possible when they could have just as easily embraced the traditional model that made previous halo games so great.

With the big issue out of thew way, the game also has huge performance issues. Running a 1080ti, Intel 7700K, and 16GB of RAM, the framerate constantly drops below 30 on max settings at 2560x1440 resolution. Somehow it seems to run better on my laptop (AMD 4800H and 2060). And on top of that, it took 2 minutes and 57 seconds to load into an offline custom game. More than 3 and a half minutes on a multiplayer game. Even loading the game takes forever. It seems as though optimization is not present. Hopefully this will improve with future updates and will update my review as needed.

As for the actual game. It feels good to play overall. The new announcer is annoying as all hell and so are the hit marker sounds. You can turn these sounds off which is a huge plus. The movement seems to be really slow compared to other halo games. Almost as they were trying to compensate for sprint. Not something i am complaining about but why add sprint in the first place. It seems as though the gameplay has gone way too off course for a Halo game. As someone who has sunk easily 2000+ hours into previous Halo games throughout the years, i just don't see what all the fuss is about.

Halo Reach aged VERY well and is a blast to play. Multiplayer is still fun as ever. Not a fan of the "Season" based progression system, but at least they didn't opt for microtransactions like other garbage developers do nowadays.

Honestly i dont even know why people play this game, let alone buy it. Sucks i cant get a refund for this. And the whole addition of microtransactions is a spit in the face to people who bought this game early.
