Post-2022, Rust has undergone significant changes that have shifted its gameplay experience away from its former glory. One of the most noticeable alterations is the revamped recoil system, which has left many players dissatisfied. Additionally, recent updates have steered the game towards a more PvE-centric direction, diverging from its original PvP survival roots with base building mechanics. However, these updates come at a price, quite literally, with monthly DLCs and exorbitant costs for cosmetic items, which has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many players, feeling more like a cash grab.
Despite the promise of the HDRP update in May 2021 to enhance framerate and graphical stability, two years later, players still grapple with broken promises as certain areas of the map remain nearly unplayable due to technical issues. While the game initially immerses players in its atmospheric and apocalyptic world, the reality sets in when most servers find themselves devoid of action merely days after a wipe, as players opt to bunker down in their bases.
Adding insult to injury, many quality servers have been locked behind VIP paywalls, discouraging casual players who simply wish to dive in for a few hours of enjoyment without unnecessary barriers. This exclusivity only exacerbates the struggle for non-VIP players to secure a spot on popular servers, sometimes rendering it impossible for them to join in the initial days post-wipe.
Moreover, the new recoil system has tipped the scales heavily in favor of larger groups, making it nearly impossible for smaller teams to compete on an equal footing. The previous weapon mechanics, pre-July 2022, offered a unique and balanced gameplay experience, allowing small groups to thrive and succeed. However, the current state of affairs boils down to a mere contest of firepower, favoring those with numerical superiority and better spawn locations.
It's disheartening to witness Rust lose its touch with the community, especially evident when it failed to secure the 'Labor of Love' award on Steam, losing out to a title like Red Dead Redemption 2, which hasn't seen updates since 2020. This glaring discrepancy underscores a growing sense of disconnect between the development team and the player base, raising concerns about the game's future direction and its ability to resonate with its audience.

Is there a character that could even possibly EVEN TOUCH Madara Uchiha? Let alone defeat him. And I'm not talking about Edo Tensei Uchiha Madara. I'm not talking about Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara either. Hell, I'm not even talking about Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan doujutsus (with the rikodou abilities and being capable of both Amateratsu and Tsukuyomi genjutsu), equipped with his Gunbai, a perfect Susano'o, control of the juubi and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju's DNA implanted in him so he has mokuton kekkei genkai and can perform yin yang release ninjutsu while being an expert in kenjutsu and taijutsu.
