i'm aware of some major server, performance and console release issues (and I'm pretty sceptic when it comes to successful future development of the game itself), but at the current state as for myself (only singleplayer and pretty solid PC), I've had much more fun in the first 100 hours of gameplay than I had in almost 3000 hours in the previous title, crazy good graphics (shadow artifacts and volumetric clouds are sometimes awful though, they said something about fixing those, but whether they do or not I can't say for certain, pretty sceptic if you ask me, it's been almost a month since release and nothing much changed in terms of that), some amazing QoL changes, the AI changes (only land creatures) are solid too, but can definitely be better, all in all it's an amazing experience after playing ARK for almost 10 years, it's much more immersive (for me, the lack of immersive gameplay in the previous one was the main reason of boredom) and overall it's a much better experience, therefore I recommend it to people like me (good PC, prefer singleplayer or small group of friends on a private server), BUT if developers can keep up with the updates and introduce more and more amazing changes, new content, performance related improvements and bug fixes (and surprise me by doing so), then this title will be truly recommendable to try for every single person who enjoys playing survival and open world sandbox games :)
