This game is a "Must play / Must buy!". Honestly, I don't remember playing anything similar to this one. Yes, it is spiritual sequel to Fran Bow, yes it has decisions like other decision based games (or should we call them Story-telling games), but this game is different from both Fran Bow and other decision-based games. First of all, this game is made for all generations, and when I say that, I really mean that. I'm pretty sure there is not a single person on the World who couldn't play this game, regardless of what type of games do you like. Little Misfortune is unique in every way possible!

When I first played Fran Bow (check my review about it if curious), I wasn't that happy about it, because I kinda had very high expectations, based only because of TRAILER for Little Misfortune. Yes. And then I decided to buy the game and find out that game is million times better than the trailer is.

Thing that was holding me back from buying it was "high" price, I made a little search without spoiling my self and found out that this game is only 2-3h long, and for 17e, a lot of people considered it as a high price for such a short game. But believe me, game duration is perfect! Pretty sure if game is longer, it would start to become boring, even tho its 2-3 single hours. Not because of story, but games like this just shouldn't be longer. Lenght of Fran Bow is one more reason why I disliked it. It is unnecessary long, for no reason.

Also, Little Misfortune doesn't have those boring, annoying puzzles like Fran Bow, so you can entirely focus on the game and story. There are sooo many places where you will go through in only these 3 hours that you will feel like you played actually 5 to 6 hours instead. Not a single place is boring, everything has something special about it.

Humor? Outstanding! Dark from time to time, but honestly, I forgot that games can have any comedy in it. Little Misfortune has it a lot! And its fun all of the time. I don't rememeber laughing with any game like I did with this one!

Art-style is probably the best I've ever seen in my life, for 2D games. Its basically like animated drawings.

Story? Well, everything I could tell about the story would be a spoiler, so I will leave it for you to speak about it after you play the game. But it is indeed great, dark, funny, and sad at the same time.

Ofcourse, nothing is perfect, so is not Little Misfortune. Two main things I kinda don't like about the game are:
1) Choices doesn't matter [that much]. Only thing that choices can affect is just a little part of future dialogs, but mostly for achievements. They look amazing when you have to decide between things, but however, they don't affect the story that much... at all. Don't build your hopes about it. Especially it won't affect the ending
2) With first thing, imediatelly comes this: Games has no "replayability" option. Like Life is Strange series or Tokyo Dark that I earlier played, there is just no point in replaying this game. Since decisions really won't affect the story, only thing you can do to replay the game is chasing achievements, but even then, you can get them all in two single runs. For example, I got all achievements in 2 runs, 5 hours in total.

HOWEVER! As said at the beginning, THIS-GAME-IS-A-MUST-BUY! You need to experience this type of game for yourself to understand it. Also reminder that Little Misfortune/Fran Bow creators are 2 single persons (wife and husband), and if nothing else, they deserve all the support they could get from gamers in their future creations, because, trust me, this type of games, and this type of weird stories can only Killmonday tell to us! :)

I will blame myself for the rest of my life for not mentioning two more things done extremely well! Voice acting and soundtrack = sick [in good way]!

I just don't know from where to start. This is one of rare games where my opinion got so mixed up over and over again. In general, I got disappointed from this game, but... Maybe that's because I had insane expectations from it... or at least I think that I had them, since game just hasn't turned out into what I expected it to be.

I will start out with cons:
1) Decisions... really doesn't exist at all. You can figure out that after 5min in the game. When first decision popped up, I got so excited, expecting this game to be decision based, like my favorite one, Life is Strange. Turned out that your "decisions" are about to keep gathering information from person you are talking with, or just to cut-off the conversation with the other decision given. There are barely few decisions that actually are not between "Keep asking"/"Bye", but like Option 1 vs Option 2, and then, you find out whatever you pick, converastion will continue the same way anyways... not rare to see that person you are talking with is replying with something completely unrelated to any of options, which just made the game fall down even more in my eyes.

2) Puzzles: bad. Not entertaining, not interesting, and I can barely find any of them hard to figure out, however, next thing I will mention was freaking me out over and over again.

3) Point to click, my God! I got stuck sooo many times in the game, just because you haven't clicked the thing you actually meant to click, but you clicked few pixels away. Or situations where you can't click on something, but you have to do other stuff, and then, clicking on the first thing will make you get progression. And worst thing is, none of this stuff was logical, its just... not well represented. And trust me, that will happen once in every 15-20 minutes. And then when you figure out what you were supposed to click, you were left like "What? I'm sure I clicked that before!", or "Why is it now available to do?", becuase, really, you did nothing specific towards that magical thing to make it exactly now available to pick. Shortly said, you have to click everything you can and hope that you clicked it in specific order to keep going.

4) Story, disappointing. Beginning is epic, leaves you with tons of questions, and as game progresses, you just keep moving, you are not a 0.1% closer to answers on questions you kept asking yourself. Also, thing mentioned above killed even that little excitement part in my body because right on the moment you get back to the road, expecting you will now learn more about the story, you get stuck again with something else and can't keep focusing on story, but how to solve the clicking problem. And then you get lost. And then this repeats over, and over, and over again...

5) Items, as number 3, there are many items you have to combine, but you can't combine when you figure out that you have to do it, but, you can combine them when game expects you to do it. So I was left stuck few times trying to combine something, it haven't worked out, and then I was searching what do I have to do, to finally realise later that I actually triggered combine option later in that chapter.

Now pros:
1) Art, love it! Entire game graphics looks nicely done, also its kinda unique to have "rounded" screen displayed. One of better game graphics from 2D games I've played! Characters and space they are in fit very well, and all characters that have some impact in game have something unique about themselves, to push them in front of other minor characters.

2) Representation, sick! Mainly, I mean on part when you take the pills or change year season. Alternate reality looks creepy af, but at the same time, incredibly well and detailed.

3) Story (twist), love that game is not entirely predictable. Some characters that were expeceted to be on the one side, they join another one, and the opposite.

Overall: imo, game as it is, isn't worth even 5.5e that I spent on it on HB sale, since I played so many great games recently: with better story, better decisions, basically, better everything.
However, I don't regret buying this game since its made by two single people, and I always love the passion that individual people put in their creations! And when credits starts rolling, and you see two single people in it over all the stuff, I got tingles, honestly!

Last things last, I found out for Killmonday after Little Misfortune was released, and expected Fran Bow to be good as Little Misfortune (trailer) is. May be one of reasons why I got disappointed into this title, but I'm sure Little Misfortune will "fix" the negative taste I have from this game, once I play it! Also, this is my longest, most detailed review, which means that game actually caused some emotions inside me, even though, most of them are negative-oriented.

Summary: I will give this game a thumbs up, even tho I said so many negative things about it, but I just can't give thumb-down to people who gave their best to create something, especially small industries. Its my personal opinion! And I will keep supporting Killmonday in their future projects!

I spent entire day searching for answers for this game, because this game really got my attention. After finding out and fully understanding the game, I love it and hate it even more! Love because: Story is well written and very surprising. Hate because: Mentioned under 4). You just can't follow the story throughout the walkthrough because you need to focus on freakin' puzzles and clicking stuff.

Cons:

- Skill independent

- Disgusting RNG

- Crashes at least twice per game (sometimes you need even to restart PC)

- No major updates in a months

- Ingame bugs

- Terrible reward system

- Lack of Battle Pass activities (paying 4.5e for nothing given in return)

- Terrible ranked match-making system (Lowest rank can easily get into match with best players in the world)

- Extremely unbalanced

- "AFK" battles (When you lose, you lose health, but when you win, opponent is unaffected)

- RNG again, because it exists everywhere, from starting the game fully un/bugged, to not/crashing, to good/trash items, to good/bad drafts, to strong/weak opponents, to not/play against strong opponent 10 times in a row, to not/have "afk" battles, to have extremely good/bad knock-out draft, to get underlord powers that you do/don't need etc.



Pros:

- Can be fun when playing with friends

- You can still dominate, even if you are dummy (if RNG is on your side)

After finishing this game, I completely changed my mind. Still far away from Devil May Cry, but pretty good game to play.
