A lot of praise in the reviews already, gonna add mine. First of all, if you have friends who like tactics, gimmicks and blowing up people, animals and ghosts alike, get him to get this, too. And get yourself one.

The game starts pretty slow, the first act is kinda dull, in retrospect, but for the first playthrough, even that was super exciting. The second act is solid gold, and is the longest of the whole game, after that you feel really powerful. Third act is okay, but falls a little flat in the end. Fourth is great in my opinion and shows you your place again, stock up on those heling potions!

Pros:
+ Stunningly beautiful, the details are amazing. Zoom in every now and then.
+ Customization. I can never really stay with one "class" for too long, so the ability to just reset your talents and stats is, well, divine
+ Great story. Some people disliked the last 25% of the game, saying the 1st and 2nd chapters were the best. While I agree that they were, the 3rd and 4th aren't bad by any means, just slightly worse than 1 and 2.
+ You feel epic. Using your limited action points per turn well, and turning the tide of battle with great tactics feels so good. With a friend, even more so.
+ Challenge. Lots of hard af battles if you wander into them too early. And still difficult even if you're the same level. Boss battles sometimes felt very unfair, but everything is beatable.
+ UI. It's not too much in your face, but delivers all the info you need at the push of a button.
+ Voice-acting and characters. From unique, quick-witted and sarcastic undead scholar to a laid back, demon infested, compassionate singer and super annoying town-criers, you got it all.
+ Utility. A lot of games these days in my opinion lack this, but being able to gimmick your way into that chest or a certain area, by using teleports, swaps, flight, stealth or just putting out that fire, is super rewarding.

CONS:

- Loading times. This isn't game-breaking and doesn't matter to me so much, but even when loading from and SSD, the first time in a session you went to a new place, loading time could be around 5 minutes or more.
- Camera. Sometimes when you tried to spin the camera around, it just didn't want to turn. At all. Maybe something to do with the terrain, I dunno. Annoying, but gladly rare.
- Aiming. Some spells and all archery is done with skill-shots. I my opinion the UI doesn't always show it clearly enough whether it's gonna hit or not. Especially when playing with obstacles or at the very edge of your range.
- AI. AI is very inconsistent in this game. Sometimes it seems to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ king of all tactics, and use some botnet processor to calculate what I'm gonna do next, and sometimes it just uses a scroll to make it rain and stun its friends. Especially annoying when you get taunted or charmed (so you can't control your character) It always seemed to just use all the potions, scrolls and grenades in your inventory.
- Parts of combat. Every ♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemy and their grandmothers have some sort of teleport, apparently with a range about 10x your teleports and 2 round of cd. Some enemies have an absurd amount of action points, and super-human movespeeds.

So there are the major points in my opinion. Haven't much touched DM mode or the hardest difficulty yet. Classic was challenging, tactician is really hard. As in, you'd think it's hard, but it's way harder. And challenging, and unfair.

All in all, I love the game and will continue to pour hours into it, it's possible dlc and sequels, and I suggest you do the same.
