Great gameplay idea - TTK time is perfectly balanced, with the difficulty level well designed for exploration. I love to see this game in full swing!

So I've finally played FIREWATCH - after 5 years of "hallucinating" this to be a horror game. (I've played Blair Witch a ridiculous amount of time) Now that I've finished it, and after reading about everything the game offers (from in-game content to wikis and retrospective posts), here's what I think.

(it's more like a personal note anyway, but thank you if anyone bothers to read this review)

The game has a good plot. And that story is composed of some of the best dialog and voice acting I've heard in a game, something along the lines of DBH or Subnautica. The game also has a detailed-rich art style, which should be pointed out, especially when someone 8 years later says that the game has appealing visual quality.

So a gripping story, graphics that can withstand the modern level of visual quality, and great dialog/voice acting. What else could I ask of a game for me to mark it as "not recommend"?

People would say because of the ending. I wouldn't put it as one of my reasons. I adore Campo Santo's choice of ending. After all the hype - from the flirty romantic relationship between Henry and Delilah to the death of Brian Goodwin and Henry's conspiratorial mystery that turns out to be Ned Goodwin, FIREWATCH abruptly ends, without you ever meeting Delilah, each of you going separate ways, and an awkward "goodbye". It ends "in a way that feels mundane but refreshingly human" (Jordan Oloman, Green Man Gaming). It's an ending that keeps you wondering, not a cliffhanger for the next episode, but it shows the blatant truth: There was no conspiracy, there was no flirty spark, and Henry should either move on or go back to care for his wife. I love the simplicity of it - it's another case in life where there's no girl or medal for the hero, and life progresses.

So why 'negative'? One word: Replayability. It's annoying to see how much more Campo Santo could have built upon this powerful short story. The game utilizes dialog options from walkie-talkies, from which could be used to spark multiple paths for exploration, without having to change the final ending. It's already done in the game (if you stay professional while talking to Delilah, she would go very curt and scary unlike the usual plot) - I am shocked that this wasn't explored further. Simple things like asking Delilah to fully report the 'missing' (air quotes because in the end, they weren't), or committing to finding Ned rather than fleeing, or simply taking all the resources from the supply drop.... all that can lead to a mountain to brainstorming, let alone changing the ending. It had so much potential to be more than just a story.

I get that I am taking a note out of Quantic Dream's baby, but this game, with its powerful art, great voice acting, and plot, could be more, if not similar. And I fully believe the team could've done more, knowing that they lent their talent to Half-Life Alyx 4 years after Firewatch.

Nevertheless, I ended my first run-through of Firewatch with a smile on my face. The game is fantastic, and it will be something that I'll keep in the back of my mind when I work my way towards my first Indie Game. Looking forward to what the studio is cooking for its 2nd game!

(you can call me a hypocrite lol, calling the game "fantastic" but marking it "Negative". It's how I feel.)

The game itself is great - HUGE glow up from Arrowhead for the HELLDIVERS series. The problem is SONY with their "PSN Account Linking Requirements" at the moment. It's just RIDICULOUS to do such a thing to a title that is doing so good.

Edit: You're off the hook, Sony. For now.

:)

Some of the GREATEST FPS campaign in recent memory. I kinda wished it'd been longer.

this game is an absolute blast

no matter if you enjoy blasting the AI to nothing to playing through the campaign or playing with friends, or blasting strangers through the matchmaking, this is the game for you

it is a great successor to the original flash games of this type as well, I definitely do recommend (and if you have spare money, buy the 4-pack and gift it to some friends ;)

This game is the first Battlefield branded game I've played, and boy did it changed every bit of my opinion about Dice and EA with the Battlefield Franchise. Absolutely fan-f*cking-tastic.

CS:GO Review
While there are still way too many cheaters, Counter Strike: Global Offensive had proven to be one of the greatest FPS games in the history of video games. There are still points that aren’t good enough while experiencing the game, it have been a wonderful time playing.
