Who put this under the "Story Rich" tag?

Edit: If anyone is actually reading this anymore in the glorious decade of the New 20s, know that this game is only worth it on sale solely thanks to the modding community. I would only recommend it for pretty much only that reason.

I still say it means 'rich', as in 'Tell me another one'.

I think the problem is more that "story rich" is a very ambiguous term that can mean a variety of things.

A game either has a story or it doesn't, and if it does the quality can range from masterpiece down to abysmal. So saying a game has a "great story" or "stale story" answers both the question of whether it has a story and how good it is.

"Story rich" on the other hand doesn't really tell me much at all.

There is a difference between "story rich" and not having a lot of story interactions.

No, disparaging is the correct reaction. Nobody is angry that FO4 exists. They are angry that in order for it to exist, a beloved series was destroyed. It could have been avoided by creating a new IP, but they chose the greedy, unscrupulous route.

FO4 is not, in any degree, an RPG. It is not a Fallout game in anything but name and trappings. It is this practice which should be heavily "demonized" because it is the attitude that mediocrity is perfectly okay if it is what generates the maximum amount of profit. Why would one who loves games financially support this?

The purpose of business is to make a profit, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. But viewing money as more important than anything else is wrong. If you think it is important to ensure publishers maximize profits, then support this behavior. If you think the most important thing is the quality & advancement of games, it is your job to force companies to agree by spending or withholding money accordingly.

I can agree to that for the most part. I am doing yet another playthrough of NV right now, even after years of playing the game, though for me Fallout 3 is my favorite. But if it wasn't for mods, I probably wouldn't be playing any Fallout games at this point considering how much i've played them.

I agree with the complaints people have toward Fallout 4, I just don't agree with demonizing the game, saying it's an awful game as many people do. I would still recommend Fallout 4 to both Fallout fans and just gamers in general, absolutley worth every penny I spent on it.

@ THEGREEN

I've never gotten into mods, except to fix specific issues, like SkyUI in Skyrim, or to increase the FOV in Oblivion, but I am interested in doing my next FO:NV play-through modded.

Can you recommend mods that truly enhance the experience? I'm not interested in mods that change things just for the sake of changing.

Also: Is there a mod that fixes the ridiculous Hit Chance in VATS? And have you used NVAC - Freeside Open?

Thanks.

@JunkEt @Dryspace

I still play solely thanks to Nexus, same reason I still play FONV. Difference is, FONV's base game is excellent but flawed, so the mods just enhance the experience, while fixing the flaws.

That's not the case for FO4. Mods are its only saving grace. Its crutch. If you notice my screenshots, I only really use FO4 now for screen capping mostly, mod campaigns rarely.

i.e, I use FO4 now as people used Crysis 3; it's an empty game story wise, but (in FO4's case, with a shit ton of retouching) is a beautiful game to screenshot.

FONV: Mods & community = base game
FO4: Mods & community > base game

"What if someone started using heroin because it seemed cool, and he really liked it at first, but the initial thrill faded and he changed his mind about it, but kept using it for 5 years trying to reclaim that initial buzz, and then ended up "Not Recommending" it."

This is not comparable to this situation. You are comparing someone with a biological dependency on a substance to someone playing a video game. No rational person plays a game for nearly 500 hours just to make sure they don't like it. Even with a large game like this, it doesn't take that long to understand what the game has to offer, and whether you like said offering or not. I don't claim to know why people do this, but I suspect it is just a bitterness toward the game, and the direction Fallout is heading in as a whole, and a desire to simply follow the trend of disliking this game.
