This is exactly what it looks like and I like that. A decent amount of challenge and some fun micromanagement over which loads to take where. I can't say rather or not the DLC is worth it because I got enough of what I wanted from the vanilla game. I thought I had a lot more time in this game than what shows but that's a good thing.

Played this on mobile a lot more casually and for some reason it feels like this version is a lot slower. I was at the point where the number I was working with had 60 zeros behind it or something and in this version I hadn't even made it to Mars with 175 hours. This game isn't even stimulating enough to have on a second screen.

This game is bad, and I didn't even realize it takes almost 20 GBs. 6 hours I wish I had spent playing more Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead or heck even Minecraft.

It's a decent game to have while you're listening to podcasts or essays or whatever. Don't play the "No Revival" difficulty, the game can be inconsistent and will screw you over in a situation where you thought you were safe. The story is absolutely the worst part of this game and being forced to listen to the audio track things is kinda like stubbing your toe, it's not going to ruin your day but every time it happens it's annoying. This is a great idea and if they make another like this I'm likely to look into it as long as they fix the inconsistent bits. Specifically, the laser will sometimes interact with objects they touch even if the end result of the cut doesn't involve that piece, sometimes you blow yourself up after spending 30 hours on a No Revival play through and it's really frustrating.

The dice game with the one armed man just inside the Khare gates is the dumbest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mini game ever invented. I made a bet that had less than a 1 percent chance of failing (I did the math) and it failed. What is the purpose of the dice game? Is it supposed to be an exercise in futility? Everything else in the game has a flow and is fair and can be figured out but not the crooked dice game. Whoever coded this mini game into Sorcery deserves to drop their slushie and stub their toe, and a bird poops on their car all at the same time.

But yeah, a fun pick your own adventure. ♥♥♥♥ swindlestones.

In a single word, frustrating.

There is so much potential here and I'm really excited to play what this game might become but until they either lower the difficulty curve or improve the mechanics in a major way I cannot recommend this game. I will list specific examples of what frustrates me, there may be spoilers:

-Stamina drain is too fast, recovery takes too long, and stamina debuffs are too easy to incur and too difficult to get rid of. Even with the stamina fortifying food your character can really only run for 20-30 seconds at a time before having to wait 5 seconds to recover. Once you grasp the scale of the map in this game you'll understand why that's a problem.
-AI for creatures and enemies is too simple and frustrating. They chase endlessly or run away endlessly. It's difficult to time hits and slip away consistently. Every enemy in the game can be stumped by running around an object continuously.
-Spawn rates for all creatures or enemies is completely unpredictable and often falls in to a "feast or famine" swing. Sometimes I'll find 3 deer and a boar standing on a shore line, other times I'll stumble randomly around a forest for 5 minutes and see nothing.
-Combat is too slippery, basic weapons have too much knockback against basic creatures to capitalize on the built in combo swings and not enough knockback on others so the only real way to fight is kiting, bows are nearly impossible to aim which sucks because they have the best damage, and the variety in melee weapon selection is literally useless, a spear, a club, or a sword all have similar timed animations and the same range.
-Gathering even the most basic of materials is infuriatingly slow and tedious, trying to hunt boars and deer is difficult because of the above points (weapons and combat and spawn rates) and chopping down trees takes much longer than it should
-Skill growth is entirely too slow, the difference between tree chopping 20 and tree chopping 1 is so small it's not even worth looking at numbers. Damage is random with a big range anyways.
-Armor does not scale well, the game wants you to enter the Black Forest after defeating the first boss but even after grinding out full leather armor (including the cape) and eating the best HP fortifying food I could find, I would still fall after 5 or 6 hits and often get overwhelmed with the number of enemies near a single land mark
-Death is incredibly unforgiving, as an example I spent 30 minutes mapping out the shore of the island I spawned on. I stumbled unknowingly into a Draugr camp and died in two hits. I built a raft only to discover it was about as slow as the walk speed even with the wind at my back and full sail but at least I don't have to fight anything. After 20+ minutes of sailing back to try and sneak my stuff back I immediately got one shot by a Draugr arrow.

All of this being said, I had yet to start using copper or tin, maybe the game opens up a bit and gets easier once you have proper weapons and armor. I don't have the patience to slowly wade through the hours it would take me to get there.

Even though I cannot recommend this game to anyone in it's current state, I will say that I am very hopeful that it will continue to improve and develop. I love the aesthetic and simplicity and I really hope the developer will continue to improve the game in every way. It's a really good mindless game to play while having a podcast or music going, just know that setting goals and milestones can get very discouraging.

Always been interested but never got around to it. Decided during the fall sale to pick it up and was absolutely thrilled with the depth and detail this game has.

Love this game, very unique and I've really fallen in love with the way you have to poke at the edges to expand your knowledge. It's very immersive in that nothing is just given to you. You have to put the pieces together and the more you learn the more you realize there is SO MUCH MORE to learn.

I'll be damned though if I haven't put in a couple runs that lasted hours only to end on a three minute timer for reasons that are totally alien to me.

(for example: I lost to a fascination tile because I could not figure out how to reliably produce "Fleeting Reminescence". The whole game I had received both of these cards but not on purpose and they often canceled out. However, when the game decided to test me, several hours in mind you, by threatening a fascination loss, I failed because I did not know how to produce the card the game wanted. This is a theme, learning through failure. Now my next run I'll be paying a ton of attention to how to get those cards so this doesn't happen again.)
