Despite all the controversy, The game itself is still great. It's a bit repetitive and grindy but the moment to moment gameplay loop is super fun.

Why don't i recommend it though? It's still plagued with ♥♥♥♥ tons of crashes and bugs and worst issue is that it literally kicks you out if you lose connection for even a few seconds. Every other online game at least gives you 30 seconds or a minute to reconnect before kicking you out but this game just kicks you out immediately. Your connection drops for 5 seconds and boom your 30 minute helldive is over. Thats the most frustrating part about this game. So yeah unless you have perfect internet that doesnt lose connection for even a second, I dont recommend getting this game until they fix this.

Update: Most crashing related issues have been fixed and the game is in a great state now imo.

Doom meets borderlands in the best way possible. The movement and the gunplay are just *chef's kiss*. The arenas have a lot of verticality. You'll be constantly running, jumping, grinding on rails and headbanging to an awesome soundtrack while gunning down an army of robots. The game encourages a more aggressive playstyle as you'll only get heals by picking up health drops from dead enemies bodies but those pickups disappear very quick so staying far away and sniping stuff is not that viable if you actually want heals.

There's a nice variety of weapons including some wacky ones. Besides regular rifles, smgs, shotguns there's also throwing knives, tomahawks, hunting bows, mortars and more stuff which make really fun loadouts.

There are different classes which give you a nice variety of playstyles but you'll mostly end up choosing your favourite one and running it everytime. I pretty much only only play ranger right now

Though the criticisms of the game having weak RPG, roguelike elements are true. You don't have to put much thought into creating a good "build". Just pick good weapons and upgrade them and you'll blast through everything in your path.

The story is told through animated comic panels and is pretty basic. I stopped caring and started skipping it after a while. Just get me to the shooty shooty, ya know?

I've only played for about 5 hours but I am hooked. I deffo see myself playing this game for many many more hours.

If you enjoyed the gameplay of Doom, Borderlands and Titanfall 2 then this game is right up your alley..

Another banger from remedy.

The combat and traversal start out a bit slow with limited abilities and weapon modes but slowly get more and interesting as you unlock more of them.

The main story on the other hand starts out with a bang but ends on a whimper.

The world building is excellent though. I actually enjoyed reading all the collectible entries.
I love control for the same reason I love breath of the wild. If you can see it, you can go there. Sometimes you just have to be a little creative to be able to get there but you'll get there.

The foundation dlc is excellent but the AWE dlc is kinda meh. AWE is more of a long ass teaser for Alan Wake 2 than a control dlc tbh.

Overall I liked the game a lot. The combat, story and characters, worldbuilding, sound design are all excellent and it's been one of my favourite single player experiences in the last few years.

The only game I've ever bought cosmetics for. 10/10 devs they deserve every penny. ROCK AND STONE !!!

I liked it a lot until i got to a point where I couldnt make a jump. I think my game got bugged and the wind that was supposed to push me to the other side wasn't pushing me at all so that kinda soured the experience for me cuz I never got to finish the game. I still recommend it though. It's very funny and charming and genuinely made me smile at quite a few moments.

Filled with chinese hackers who have superspeed attacks and movement. Will just slash through your entire team in seconds. Dont bother. 3 hours in I'm already regretting my purchase.

edit: Character customizations dont save. So no point in customizing your character cuz it just goes back to default once you're in game.

edit2: Some achievements are also bugged.

1 year Update: decided to try the game again after almost a year. The game's performance has gotten worse and I have upgraded my pc in that time. Constant stutters and frame drops. How have the devs made the game worse than it was lmao. Still a fun game at its core but the bugs and performance issues are just too much to ignore.

Psychonauts 2 is literally the only game I have ever pre-ordered. I knew I wasn't gonna regret this purchase. There's only a handful of games where you can clearly see the developers love their game. Just the way the devs talked about it in interviews, involving people who had been vocal fans of the first game to voice characters in the sequel. It's such a charming and fun game. Definitely one of my all time favourites and one I will always recommend.
