After 10 years of waiting, the time has finally come. The new Dragon Age game is here and it's fantastic!

Welcome to this review - I'll talk about the game mechanics, the look, the feel and a few other topics. No story spoilers!

At the beginning I was a bit scared if my computer could handle the game. But the fear was unfounded, although my PC is a few years old, the game runs super smoothly and without any problems. I haven't had a single bug so far and only one crash.

The game itself feels great.
As you would expect, game mechanics have been expanded and changed in this latest installment.
The battles are dynamic and fun. I understand if other players don't like the combat though, as the actual strategy based elements have almost been removed.
I would describe the combat system as a mixture of Witcher Wild Hunt and Dragon Age Inquisition.

Gradually, similar to Inquisition, you get large areas that the player can explore. There are lots of hidden things to find and smaller puzzles.

The game's soundtrack and graphics are extremely well done!

Now we come to an absolutely brilliant new feature that I wish every role-playing game had.
The player can visually customize the weapons and clothing of his character and companions. In other words, you have armor that you find ugly but has good stats. The player can put it on and set a different armor as a “skin” for it.

Let's move on to the penultimate section, the characters. In my first 2 hours of playing, I was a little skeptical about the companions, but that has now subsided. The companions are designed in typical Dragon Age style. Interesting characters with a certain depth as soon as you get to know them. The interaction between the characters is, as always, well done. Your own character feels similar, as they react to the environment and occasionally even the companions start a conversation with you.

I also really like the story so far. You can also see many familiar faces from the previous Dragon Age parts. I would like to point out that, at least in the German version, each of the returning characters has their voice actor from the previous part.

Unfortunately, the game also has 4 points that bother me:

The voice of your own main character. In Inquisition, the player had 4 voices to choose from, 2 male and 2 female. Here, unfortunately, there are only 2 voices, which can only be adjusted slightly.

The next points concern the companions:
It's a great pity that you can no longer control your companions, plus the fact that you can only play with 2 companions instead of 3 as was the case in the previous parts.

The last point is a small spoiler:

Varric is unfortunately NO longer a companion, but merely in a support role, similar to Leliana or Cullen from inquisition.

For everyone who has read this far, thank you.

One final word.
Anyone who criticizes the character editor for its large selection: This is exactly what makes a good editor, providing the player with many options, from which you then individually choose the things you would like for your own chara.
Nobody is forcing you to use everything that is included in the editor. Or would you cook yourself something to eat and deliberately use spices that you don't like?

OH forgot something:
You can pet, Cats and Dogs!

I wasn't sure for a long time whether I should write a review. Now more than a month later, I'm ready.

The review will be split into several categories. A short one that summarizes the game without spoilers and a spoiler version that deals with the lore of Dead by Daylight.

The short version.

In my opinion, the game is one of Supermassive Games' weakest. It is nowhere near Until Dawn or the Quarry. The prologue was interesting but after that everything is quite boring. It only gets interesting again at the end, but only the first time you play it.

Almost no decisions you make in the game are relevant and theoretically, the game has just 3 endings. In addition, the story is quite confusing on the first playthrough, and there are also some plot errors that are not resolved.

The cut room feature is good, but at the same time it shows players how little the game ACTUALLY has to offer.

On top of that, the game has the typical “problems” that I criticize about Supermassive games: strange facial expressions, superficial characters that you don't care if they live or die.
The graphics themselves are also not the best for a game released in 2024.
Some of the environments are pretty but that's it.

I would advise against buying it, especially at full price.
If you like games of this type, you should go for Until Dawn or the Quarry. If it doesn't have to be horror, then Detroit:Become Human, the king of this game genre.

Now the spoiler version:

[Spoiler.]

Apart from the Entity, the four original Survivors at the end and some Dead by Daylight Eastereggs, the game has NOTHING to do with Dead by Daylight. The promised expansion of the lore simply doesn't happen.
Not a single character, location or organization that is important for DbD's lore appears. Only one text can be found that is directly related to DBD, and that is a text from one of DbD's past archives.
In the trailer for the game, I still thought that we would get to see the Void. That we would find out more about the Black Vale. That there might be texts written by Vigo or Benedickt Baker. But no. None of this is part of the game.

What went wrong? Why did they decide against it? People who would get to know the world of DbD through this game would have gotten more important background information they need and DbD players would have gotten familiar names and in-depth stories of the background characters and organizations.
It's just a shame. A story game could have been so interesting and good.

If Behavior wants to have a game of this type produced again, I hope they work with Quantic Dream.

got this chapter also as a Birthday gift.
I was never an Alienfan and I will never watch one of the movies. Im happy for the fans of the series, but nothing in this chapter fits dbds vibe.
The Map is horrible
Ellen looks like someone was trying to made her in the sims and did a little oopsie with the size of her eyes
and the xeno is just a terrible killer. Like his sounds but thats the only good think about it.
The Flamethrower are annoying, his taileattack is annoying too and this dam thing is just to smal and to dark to see.
Oh and dont forget about ultimate weapon, lucky us the perk got its hard deserved nerf. hope they will never implement a perk again, that easy destroyes a big part for survivor gameplay (stealth) where the only counter is a bad survivor perk (calm spirit)

So I dont like this chapter, I think its more on DBDs weaker sides. Vecnas Power is a interesting new addition where you can choose between 4 Skills but thats it.

In terms of the survivor, OH BOY what in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? Who thinks it was a good idea to model a female elf on a MALE frame with male animations? This dont fit, this looks horrible, elfes are elegant and full with grace - she has nothing, just elf ears.
Also BOTH survivor have... not really fitting voices for bards. Dont get me wrong, the Voiceactors did a fantastic job.
But I cant believe that any of them have a nice and good voice for singing. Special the elf voice. Again it dont fit a female elf. Its just bad.

I Only like the map about this chapter.

Dont like this chapter. Both Characters looks like some kind of fan modifications for Dbd. They dont fit the Artstyle/Graficstyle at all.
Also with all the voicelines, I hope they will add in a future a function, where you can disable the voicelines.

And the killers power? Dont like it, only the doggo one.
