At one point, I would have enthusiastically recommended this game. Not anymore.

Hackers aside (which is a big sticking point) the changes to the battle pass make it so you can longer earn the next battle pass by completing it. Horrible decision by EA, not sure why they'd want to knee cap their own game, but they weren't voted the worst company for nothing.

I've uninstalled the game and won't even look at Apex until this change has been reverted.

Really fun game but no crossplay, how do you expect to release this on Gamepass AND Steam and then separate the two playerbases?

Awful, awful, awful decision to push this out the door. The game itself is awesome, with really punchy gameplay, but won't recommend until they add basic co-op features expected these days LIKE CROSSPLAY, ffs. Thought it was going to happen with the most recent update like they advertised, but then they retracted it for "coming in the future" while they flood the game with cosmetics.

On launch day, this definitely wasn't worth it.

Now, however? After a couple of content updates, some moving around of features (no more dungeon keys, thank goodness) and general stability updates to the game, yeah it's pretty fun! Quite surprising honestly, as the game didn't leave the best first impression when played on launch.

It's fun, with fun combat (especially for an MMO) and really good graphics (particularly for an MMO). I've currently rerolled and decided to pursue a new character rather than pick up where I left off because of the new player experience and I've enjoyed it thus far!

This is a culmination in Souls games. From Software is a studio that has applied everything they've learned to create one of the best, most fun, most challenging games of all time for me.

It's been a very long time since a game has lived up to the hype for me. I couldn't stop thinking about the game all day when I was playing it.

Just a masterpiece in gameplay.

Just beat the main story and it was pretty fun!

I think if you're looking for the next Destiny, this ain't it and it was never meant to be. This is more in the line of Borderlands but a little more centered on co-op. It's a third person, cover based looter shooter and there's not many of these around. People Can Fly worked on the underrated Gears of War Judgement, so they're definitely not new to cover based shooting and it shows here. The combat is fluid and fun, the guns are fun to use and come with interesting status effects. The cover system feels nice and snappy as well.

The game is better in co-op (as most games are), but this is definitely something you can play alone too. The main story is okay, not amazing but a fun ride. Haven't experienced end game content yet, but the campaign was pretty fun with a decent amount of side quests as well.

The fact that you can skip the intro when starting new characters is a nice touch for sure, for those that like building multiple characters and classes.

a very good 7 to 8/10 game. Definitely get it on sale, since it seems like the devs are focused on continually updating the game.

Rip
Tear
...and laugh maniacally while doing it because this game is a heap of good times.

Combat feels faster and better than 2016 Doom and since Quake Champions is a thing, I'm glad they decided to go for a new approach with the multiplayer which I also enjoy.

Do you like shooters in any capacity?
Then buy this game.

When I first played this game, I bounced off of it so hard I didn't return for a year.

When I played my first game of KotH though, it really struck a chord with me. Both co-op and multiplayer in this game is phenomenal and the single player is worth playing through at least once.

If you love the breakneck pace of FPS games from yesteryear, this one might just become your favorite. It takes a lot of the design decisions and definitely a lot of the visuals from old FPS games to create something brimming with nostalgia and new found wonder at the same time.

Instead of focusing on a giant over arching narrative, the game takes a simple approach to story and emphasizes atmosphere and mood. Level design here is king and I absolutely love it! The levels feel like they were handcrafted by someone who played hours upon hours of old school FPS games; there's plenty of secrets to find and the levels seem pretty long as well. The gunplay is fantastic, if a little basic, and there's a neat dodge mechanic in the game that makes fighting hordes of enemies much easier. The music in the game is very fitting as well, often changing between moody ambiance to roaring industrial metal.

Even if you didn't grow up on Quake, this game is still a must buy for any FPS enthusiast. I can't say much about the multiplayer, since I haven't played it, but if it's anything like the rest of the game then it's probably going to remind you of Quake a lot. Which, by my account, definitely isn't a bad thing.

The game itself is a very decent third person shooter with tactical elements. The gameplay is a lot of fun and the world in which the game takes place in feels fleshed out and wholly realized. It has elements derived from the other XCOM games in here as well, although this should be looked at as an offshoot of the series and not as a main entry. The gameplay is inherently different from the other XCOM games, but still provides a good bit of tactical fun.

Pros
+Fun, tactical cover based shooting
+1960s setting, fleshed out world
+Voice acting
+Can pick your own squad
+Can pause and issue orders to your squad

Cons
-Level design is a bit flat and leaves wanting for more
-I've heard the game is short
-Physx integration in this game is very spotty

All in all, it's a competent third person, cover based shooter in the vein of Gears of War with added tactical elements (think like the first Gears of War squad commanding but waaaaay more fleshed out). Not sure about the $20 price tag, but the game does often go on a deep discount during sales and is definitely worth picking up on sale. As a fan of XCOM and X-Files, this game scratched an itch that other games really haven't been able to with the combination of the setting and world. If you're a fan of XCOM, Sci-fi, and tactical cover based shooting, give it a try!

A lot of the negative reviews here are shockingly misinformed.

-Generated levels only apply to a very little amount. This means that not the entire area is generated, just a few parts. Also, from my general understanding, the level generation aspect only reallly applies to the side quests.
-The combat is much better in this game.
-As are the visuals.
-Bullet sponge enemies aren't new to Shadow Warrior, it's just things are fleshed out a lot more and you get health bars this time.
-The RPG aspect makes a conscious effort to actually challenge you while providing a good amount of variety in the weaponry. There's tons of melee weapons and guns that feel different from each other.
-Leveling is NOT just numerical upgrades. You get brand new powers along with your menial upgrades.
-It's only similar to Borderlands by the idea of loot and RPG aspects. The combat itself is 100 times better than Borderlands.

A lot of people also seem to be complaining about optional content in the game. All in all, I think a lot of people are miffed that this doesn't play like a slightly different version of the 2013 reboot. They went in a completely different direction while still retaining the core combat and I love it. Can't speak on the multuplayer front though, as I haven't given that a try yet.
