EA Crash. It's in the game.

No doubt they will fix it, but it is disheartening to see such crash issues for a 70$ game. For now, I would hold off until issues are fixed.

While I wont say negative reviews are unfounded, my experience has been 100% different. I have found this game to be engaging and interesting on many levels. I am a Roleplayer at heart, so telling stories is what I like to do. This is an amazing open world set for this. Playing in a private server moderated away from the toxicity that often ruins gaming experiences from the imature troll culture, has born this out.

As an early access game, the launch on the servers I play on was pretty amazing and smooth. Reports of rubber banding in public servers was not an issue for the community I play on. Stabily has been fantastic. I was not a great fan of ARK when I came to this game and hoped for a better experience., My patience has been rewarded.

That said, the ships of the damned are a problem right now, preventing people from moving about as freely as they would like. I want there to be inherint danger on the high seas,. but the launch rate of the ships of the damned have been overwhelming and the development team is working to address this. Atlas is a different game built upon a proven foundation (ARK). If you fix your expectation to that and just play the game (in a non trolly way), you will be rewarded with treasured moments that will endure.

Simply put... I cannot think of a game that I have owned minus maybe the original Everquest that has held my attention for so long. Sure there are bugs and sometimes some frustrating changes. However, this game has been simply incredible.

The gun play is somewhere between realistic and arcady and generally feels good. There is lots of action once you are in a match. but the FPS is just one part of the equation. As you increase in rank, you can start fielding Assault Teams (units) on the strategic map, participating in the war with all the other players.

War mode is the most challenging and rewarding mode in this game. It has unfair, unbalanced levels of resources. Sometimes you are attacking a town across a bridge under enemy tank fire while being harrased by snipers. The fighting can be very desperate to hold on and give your team a chance to advance. When at the last moment... a BF-109 zooms in dropping bombs and knocking out the enemy tank... or maybe you were able to flank it with a bazooka. The excitement and intensity are real.

When you are a general, fighting inside of your own fielded units connects each FPS battle and gives it meaning unlike other games. It is not a perfect game yet, but the small development team is working hard. You will be challenged to find another WW2 online game that captivates your attention for such a long time. 2000+ hours here, and thats just my steam hours. I have at least another 1000 in browser version.
