Very well designed mechanics -- a ton of strategic options with a good blend of randomness.
Quickly became one of my favorites in the "deckbuilder" genre.

Deep mechanics and well-balanced. Offers lots of challenges and variety in play. Seems like almost session I learn something new: a new mechanic or building or strategy.

I like the upgrade paths and the various races and differences. I also like that you don't have to go all in on micro-management, but you can -- that is a hard trade-off to get right, and I think it's done quite well here.

Developer seems responsive to public feedback, and the updates always improve the game.

Strong recommend.

This is a surprisingly fun game with friends -- being able to move around and line up shots, and use obstacles adds a welcome dimension to the genre. It's unfair to write this off as just a AtO clone.

Yes, it is rough around the edges, but if you like co-op card battlers this adds some good layers and plays well enough for some enjoyable sessions.

I understand it is a one-man operation, and I hope the developer continues to flesh out the game. I don't really care that the assets are generic or whatever some ppl have said -- it is the gameplay that is important and the core gameplay here is solid enough for me to hope it keeps getting updates.

How can one game be so good and so rage inducing?

Cyberpunk 2077. Disappointment 2021.

Still not worth it at 33% discount (Steam Summer Sale 2021 pricing).

If you have absolutely no other game you are interested in, and you have played every other game in your library, and you aren't expecting anything at all out of this title, and someone gifts it to you -- it MIGHT be worth it.

A dumpster fire of a half-developed game: bug-ridden, mushy-movement, non-existent AI and perplexing hitboxes all punctuated by frequent crashes and inane camera movement.

It is not altogether worthless though:
1. I learned about Steam's refund policy, and got a full refund (I had bought the Deluxe Edition)
2. I learned to never buy anything from Tuque Games ever again
3. I learned how smooth-brained slack-jawed dullards think by reading a few reviews that actually gave this steaming pile of digital diarrhea a thumbs up.

My current go-to "casual" game.

A very good blend of card building and boss-battling, although I confess the ascension levels are a little too tough for me right now.

A decent variety of characters and cards and encounters, although I will need an expansion soon to keep my interest.

The graphics are not AAA-stuff, but they have a decent indie charm to them, and they aren't really the point.

Minecraft + Skyrim + Multiplay Shared Universe

I came to this game late. I heard about the disaster of a launch and all that, but recently I saw a video that told the story and how the studio redeemed itself. It was a compelling video, so I thought I'd give the game a go.

I like it a lot! I like the quest system, I like the planets, I like the base-building, I like the crafting. It has a lot of things to do, and does most of the very well.

I don't know what the game was like when it first came out, but it is a solid experience now. I hope they continue to add content.

A stupid f-ing jump puzzle between every 5 min of shooting in a mini-arena. Very tedious level design and gameplay loop.

I would not describe this game as a "shooter", there is more platforming in it than shooting. You WILL spend more time jumping and swinging around over lava and infinite pits than shooting.

You will enter a mini-arena (that will close the door behind you), there will be about 5-min of decent shooting.

The game shines here, albeit way too briefly. It's not the best Doom ever at these points, but it's pretty good. The upgrade system is decent. Weapons are decent. (Do we really need a combat shotgun AND a "super shotgun"? )

You can carry almost no ammo, so you have to constantly switch over to the chainsaw to refill ammo. If the chainsaw didn't run out of gas after 3 uses, or if you didn't have to do this every minute, it wouldn't be so bad. Again, not hard or challenging, just TEDIOUS. It is required way too frequently.

The shooting is very fast paced. Not Unreal Tournament fast, but fast for a Doom title. That was a nice surprise. It is undercut by having to be so concerned with the ammo load though.

Same for health. You can "glory kill" to regain health. OK, not bad. There are about 2 glory kill animations per enemy. They get old pretty quick.

There are certain enemies that virtually dictate your tactics. For example, you will use a sticky grenade on every cacodaemon, because it is just tedious elsewise. Not hard or challenging, just TEDIOUS. Remember you can only hold a handful of ammo. You WILL run out of ammo on a single cacodaemon if you don't want to do the sitcky grenade (which is a one-shot kill and super easy). So, one-shot trivial glory kill and see the same two animations over and over again, or dump all your ammo into this huge flying bullet sponge.

F-ing Super Mario Doom FPS. Swinging around on poles and double-jumping in the air. And this happens A LOT. Like if there was 1 per level, then MAAAYBE. I never knew how much I DIDN'T WANT this until they gave it to me.

Yes yes, music and sound is cool, graphics are smooth, all that. It's just not FUN to finally get to do some shooting and then have to face YET ANOTHER FLOATING SERIES OF WALLS AND POLES TO JUMP AROUND ON. Every time this happens I want to turn the game off, I usually do because I want to play a shooter. I want to play Doom, not Super Mario Brothers FPS in hell.

Got it because it was 25% off; not near enough of a discount. A disappointing addition to the Doom series at every level. A strong do NOT recommend.
