Now I haven't put much time into this game on Steam, because I mostly purchased it for the DLCs. But I have played this game thouroughly on Xbox. I have beaten the game 4 times, with 5 stars on every mission and have every acheivment. This game, in my opinion, is one of the best games of all time. Sure, this game definatly has it's flaws, but the story, characters, and world make up for it plenty.

Pros:

Team Bondi does a great job of creating atmosphere in this game. The storyline is somewhat complicated, but simple enough to follow. This game is often misconcieved as being developed by Rockstar, not published, so what a lot of people expect is action-packed gameplay with an outragous and funny story. This is NOT GTA, it has a very slow and methodical pace, which I personally am a fan of. The cases and investigation are extremely entertaining and will keep you guessing until the end. Granted, this is not a game that I could binge play. The story also takes some unexpected twists and turns. Ultimatly, this is a story-centered game.

Cons:

The gameplay outside of investigations is a bit bland, with nothing to really do in the world. Sure there are patrol side quests (and over 100 cars to collect which is pretty much impossible), but no other side quests or activities. It would have been cool to have something like a bowling or racing activity, or just something to make you more immersed in this world. The fighting mechanic is also a bit shallow, but then again it is not a game that revolves around melee or gun combat. The chase scenes are a bit pointless at times and become sort of tireing. Also, the "Truth, doubt, or lie" system as I like to call it can be painfully easy - With the characters you are interrogating making the most rediculous and uncomfortable-looking faces. Some may find the ending to be disappointing or unrewarding.

WARNING: As with all Rockstar games, this is a pretty bad PC port, so beware of bugs and glitches.

In the end, I may be biased because I am fasinated with the topics in this game. But it is something that left a lasting impact on me. A fan of old point-and-click mystery games or crime dramas would love this game. If you have the money to buy it, you should, because it is simply an experience that no gamer should miss out on.
