In the 2018 God Of War, you play as Kratos, the former slayer of the Greek pantheon, who now resides amongst the realms of Norse mythology. Despite his past as a rage fueled beast whose vengeance knew no bounds, he has tempered his anger, and now only seeks to steer his son Atreus away from the path he walked long ago. Together they journey to fulfill his wife's dying wish; to have her ashes spread on the highest peak in all the realms. A seemingly simple quest that grows more complicated the closer to the goal they get...

This is an excellent game. I had actually beaten it a few years ago, but recently before the PC version was released I got a month of PS Now and played through the three main games(little bonus review for that at the bottom if you're interested), and honestly it made this game's story even more impactful. Without spoiling the other games, I love how they've handled Kratos's growth as character, without having him revert to his same old "so angry he literally can't die" self. Even still, my first time through when I had zero context for the series up until this point, I still loved the story.

The game play is great too. It changed from the overly aggressive style of the past games, where getting astronomically high combos was the goal, to a more strategic, almost dueling like approach. Again, this reflects a change in Kratos's character, which makes me love it even more. I also absolutely love how they've replaced your bow in GoW III with commanding Atreus to fire his bow in this game. Atreus in general adds a fun layer to the strategy in each fight. He stuns, he grapples, if he has the right equipment he can toss you health stones. Him and Kratos can even do fun combo attacks together that are always a joy to watch.

Overall, even if you haven't played a God of War game in your life(which I recommend playing if you get the time), this is a hard recommend from me!

BONUS REVIEW: Feels kinda weird talking about PS Now on Steam but just because I had so much fun with GoW I, II, and III, I thought I'd shout out the service I played them on. Wouldn't really recommend it for your more modern games like Bloodborne, Last of Us and, well, this, but for going through their older catalog it's actually pretty nice. Big recommend if you got the internet for it. Oh, and if you thought I meant review for the games, they're all somewhere between good to great. Some of the puzzles gave me an anuerysm, the QTE's in the first game physically hurt to preform, and there are some bosses that almost cost me a $60 PS4 controller, but the overall majority of my experience with these games were positive.

You ever wanted to go to a meat world filled with meat monsters you have defend yourself against using various meat tools made of meat, all the while uncovering meat lore from meaty pages of forbidden meat knowledge, scattered meatily by meats meating meat meats? Then this me- This game is for you!

As many reviews have mentioned, this is essentially reverse prophunt. The goal of each level is to find keys to an elevator, while monsters disguised as local props prowl the area. There is combat as well as stealth, and various NPC's you can meat to help you along your way. There's also mementos, floating photographs of memories that may or may not be yours. They give you special abilities for as long as you hold on to them, and I always love finding these things. The developer is still working on this game, so it's always exciting when there's an update and I get to go exploring for the new weird mutation I can give my character.

I looove how the game adapts to how you play. To put it simply, the game matches your level of aggression(or peacefulness) both in gameplay and ending. This is something I want to see in more games; not active gameplay choices that you are aware of affecting the world, but those choices you make moment to moment. Not clicking "yes" on the prompt "Sneak around enemies?", but actively sneaking around them having genuine consequences later on.

I very much so recommend this game!

I loved this game only slightly less than the first Psychonauts, which may not sound like much of a compliment, but the first game is one of the three games I'd give a perfect score to(so this would still be like a 9.5/10). The fact that it was this great, despite the extremely high expectations set by it's predecessor, is still extremely impressive to me.

It's gameplay has vastly improved from the first game, and there's no more awkward difficulty spike. I love the level designs of the mindscapes; Black Velvetopia is currently still my favorite, but the more I let it sit in my mind, the more the brain-in-the-jar starts to replace it. The story is great, and had me invested the whole time. EXCEPT for a few of the new characters, and this is why I like this game slightly less.

I feel it didn't do as good of a job building, in particular, the character of the interns. They were just kinda... there the whole time. They hung around, said the occasional comments. A couple give you straightforward quests. I know very little about any of them aside from their surface level traits. Similarly, I would have liked to have more interaction with Raz's family. Maybe it's a bit much to ask, but maybe one brain level with one of them would have been interesting. And maybe a little more with Lili, but by this point I might just be getting greedy. I just think this game could benefit from maybe a couple hours more of content to give more character interactions, and show a few of these relationships develop.

All of that said though, everything else still manages to reach the same level of quality, if not improve on a few aspects. I'm definitely satisfied with this sequel, and can't wait to see where the series goes from here!

For real though, no milkman cameo? Come on now, don't tell me he's not currently out there, trying to singlehandedly thwart the secret agency made entirely of psychics that actually invade your brain and read your thoughts.

This game deserves tons more attention. The only aspect that is slightly generic is the turn based combat, and even that is spiced up by fun attack and item use animations. If you got confused while playing the first game but wanted to get into it, play this one! The characters are still a little abstract, but no where near the level of random sentence generation in the first game(in fact, they explain why everyone in the first game acted like that in a way I love). It also has some great art, and a soundtrack I love. I often find myself playing it on spotify while lounging around outside on a beautiful day, it's just such a relaxing OST(to admit a bit of bias, my favorite genre of music is psychedelic rock). All in all, this was such a fun adventure, and one of my new favorite games of all time. Do recommend!

A short but lovely game. This one is entirely about exploring the dream like world this game takes place in, finding different fluids to give to a birch tree which will change the fate of the world depending on what it's fed. There are puzzles but they're fairly simple, most of which I solved entirely by accident while simply exploring and trying the items out. I love the characters and interactions, and the endings are all interesting, my favorite so far being ending 6 for how much I wasn't expecting it. The only problem I have is wishing there was more of it! Do recommend.

I was skeptical about this game at first. I love games with unique artstyles and gameplay, but from the store page it seemed... lazy. As if it was a mish-mash of random textures made by someone who never gets headaches. But actually getting into the game, I found it to be pretty fun. Levels are big and full of places to explore, with tons of weapons and tools to collect, as well as bonus levels to gain access to. Upgrades open up further exploration as well as assist in assassinating your targets. The story, while not hugely present, offers an interesting look into the dystopian hellscape the game takes place in. And the gameplay itself is pretty fun; it encourages stealth and planning out your approach, but I had fun rushing into rooms Hotline Miami style and shotgunning everything that shoots back. I do recommend giving this game a try.

Pretty neat game. Nothing super special, just a fun little game to go along with your favorite music. UI could use a bit of work though.

First off, this is a pretty fun game. Great gunplay, absolutely love the gun variety, Siren and Operator are super fun classes, completely recommend. Believe it or not, I actually beat this game on Epic. Why, then, do I own it again on Steam? Well, the real reason I wanted to make this review was to spread the word about a fun little feature Epic has that doesn't seem that well known.

See, I bought the first DLC to come out, Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, just to see if the DLC would hold up about as well as it does in previous games. It was fun but not fun to sell me on the season pass right away, so I waited for more DLC to come out in order to see reviews. Fast forward, DLCs are out, reviews are decent, and the season pass is on sale. Obviously, what happens next is I take advantage of a good deal and pick up the rest of the DLC at a decent price, right? NOPE. See, Epic apparently assumes it's users are idiots who don't know when their buying packs that contain something they already own, and will refuse to sell it to you. So it was either I buy each DLC INDIVIDUALLY AT FULL PRICE($45 total), or rebuy it on Steam for cheaper. Yep.

Assuming we don't live in the hellscape nightmare timeline where Epic gets their grubby, scam-artist hands on a Bloodborne PC port, this will be the last game I buy from them.

Not going to lie, this is an extremely obtuse game. I'm pretty sure 90% of the NPCs use a random sentence generator to spout absolute nonsense, you're not going to know what what you're supposed to do by asking around like most RPGs. THAT SAID, what little information you do get is enough to get you around, and honestly this is a very fun game to just explore and carve your own path in. The art and music are fantastic, definitely recommend this game.

There's a 50/50 chance this is either about someone who was subjected to MK Ultra programming, and gets a hit of LSD per KGB agent they put a bullet through, or this IS the MK Ultra programming. That would explain the plane ticket to Moscow I bought in my sleep... either way, really fun, do recommend.
