I was really disappointed by the original Mafia 3 version, because it lagged and stuttered on an overkill computer. On the other hand, the definitive edition runs perfectly on Arch Linux. There's a slight mouse deceleration but nothing that completely breaks the game.

Just perfect
I played this game 1 year+ ago (alpha version) and I didn't like most stuff in the game (ie. balancement most of all).

I now decided to play the game again and I'm kinda surprised of how the game has become: balancement, maps and gameplay, everything is perfect.

As a competitive person who played UT2004 for 11-12 years (probably counting more than 6,000 hours overall outside of Steam) I can say that I definitely like everything in this game right now.

I'm Italian and I used to host a server time ago but no Italians were interested in the game and no Italians would join our server group, so I had to close the server. I'm probably re-hosting the server soon (worldwide of course) and creating an "international" Steam group instead of Italian.

Now yeah, if anyone is interested in this, please add me. I'm also a programmer so I can do a lot of stuff (including a community website for our server and stuff like that).

This game still holds up in 2024. Great storytelling, great gameplay, smooth and snappy controls. You might have to cap framerate to 60 in some sections but that's understandable since it's quite an old game. Deserved 9/10.

It seems like they really like to take down the best mods. They already did it with FiveM, then brought it back after a community backlash, now they did it again with the Liberty City Preservation Mod. Expect another backlash.

DISCLAIMER: An update for Saints Row 2 is coming out. Developer promised to fix all the problems. If that happens, I will give it a full positive review.

I really wanted to suggest and upvote this game, because I remember it being great the old times I used to play it, but I just can't due to technical issues, this is for your own good.

The game just can't run properly. Even when you eventually fix the speedmotion bug (either with powertools or the HPET trick), the game will run like utter crap and frequently drop down below 30-40 fps even on beast systems.

Even if you fix framerate issues you'll still get a lot of stuttering that will make the game unenjoyable.

The game just hasn't been programmed properly, it's a bad Console to PC port that wasn't expected to run at 60 fps (or more) in the first place.

I can understand issues like these in 2004 games, but I really can't forgive it when it comes to a 2009(!) game.

Play it on Console.
