I really love the concept of this game and I hope that the game will get more updates. There are framerate drops but the game remains totally playable.

Use Special K and mouse controls will be infinitely better. Also, cap the framerate at 96 fps.

The game currently presents apparent control issues on PC, regardless of whether it is accessed via a keyboard, mouse, or even gamepad. Both mouse and keyboard inputs, as well as those from the gamepad, show a significant delay and unpredictable inconsistency, which affects gameplay negatively. These complications become evident when, for instance, a character fails to execute a dodge maneuver even when accurately timed or performs actions after an unwarranted delay or after being hit.

These control issues persist even when the character is not involved in combat, with unresponsive controls and randomly delayed input. This creates a less immersive experience for the player and presents several challenges in smoothly navigating the game.

In addition, the responsiveness of mouse movements is detrimentally delayed as the sensitivity frequently changes, posing yet another challenge. Furthermore, the evident input lag results in mouse movements that resemble analog stick emulation on console emulators. This adds to the challenges faced in maneuvering in-game characters and impacts overall gameplay negatively.

However, the crux of the problem lies in defensive fan reactions that inadvertently seem to hinder constructive criticism and potential solutions. These reactions have the ability to cloud the visibility of the issues at hand and accidentally deflect the necessary attention required for improvement.

It is of utmost importance that allowance is made for developers to identify these issues and seek solutions. Spreading inaccurate or false information is not only counterproductive but can also spur frustration among players. Audience feedback needs to be balanced, realistic, and focused on problem-solving to provide the developers with a clear understanding of the issues and the space to resolve them effectively.

The influence of defensive fan reactions and the spreading of inaccurate information are also identified as factors that inadvertently obstruct the path to improvement. The need for productive and accurate player feedback is underscored as a vital tool, enabling developers to understand the challenges and work towards rectifying these issues.

Decent game but it crashed right at the end after the final boss, it didn't give me the "finish the game" achievement and whenever I click "continue" it just starts the whole game from the beginning. 5.5/10.

It took me ages to figure out because this is ALWAYS reproducible on my systems, and the reason is that my hardware is too powerful. Do you crash at this boss right after you enter the portal? Well, you need to cap your framerate at 30 and boom, it finally works. This happens when you get way too much frames per second and it can't handle it during that section for some reason, and the game just hangs while you slide in the portal. If your savegames are broken and you just load into a black screen after this, please clone your profile and hit resume and it should work again! If this method doesn't work to restore your saves, maybe you are doomed, but I noticed that, in the Documents folder, you can find a few save backups, maybe rename them to your actual save and see if that works.

Other than this, great game, it's Rift Apart, but on PC, a bit resource demanding but it works well on modern hardware, It sometimes crashes when changing graphics settings in-game (so I suggest doing it from the launcher and never touch the in-game ones). I think that this is all you need to know? It's a 8/10 for me, which would be a 10/10 if there weren't problems at all. Maybe after a patch it will be better.

After the latest patch, they improved performance and fixed bugs.

I already enjoyed the first chapter on Arch Linux. I'll play the next chapters.

As I was saying, I can finally review this game because it finally runs smoothly after assembling that configuration above. Before, this review was negative because I couldn't play the game, it was constantly stuttering, input lagging and massively framedropping.

Old school arena-like first person shooter. Shoot, run, dodge, use the right weapons, understand enemy patterns. The gameplay is fast, probably not very fast for me, but it's definitely fast, as long as you "sprint" all the time. I like both the style and the gameplay, although I prefer disabling pixelation and the retro color threshold, I just don't like those. FOV also feels a bit weird, mouse sensitivity has deceleration unless you manually tamper with ini files (fix above).

I can give this a 7/10 because I had to fix input lag, stuttering and mouse sensitivity on my own.
It would have been a 8.5/10 if developers were able to fix these problems instead, which is what customers expect.

I'll just copy-paste what I have told the developers, because it sums it up.

I've uninstalled the game and cancelled my monthly subscription. It's like you took a sledgehammer to the game's soul, man. I get it, you're the creators, you can do what you want. But, I gotta be honest, I'm not happy.

I've poured tons of cash into this game, and now it feels like it's all gone down the drain. You guys axed the jetpacks - the core feature that made this game rock. It used to be fast-paced, challenging, raw, and just plain awesome. Now, it's like wading through molasses - slow characters, unnecessary weapon recoil, everything's just... slow and unskilled.

This game had the potential to be a major player in the competitive scene. But now? It's just another slow, clunky shooter that can't keep up with the big boys. Lots of players have already bailed, and I'm joining them. Hate to say it, but it's the truth.

And the cherry on top? The game's just not fun anymore. That's the real kicker and the main reason why I've hit the uninstall and cancel subscription buttons.

The game has entirely lost his soul and what made it rock in the first place. I'm disappointed.

My suggestion: Bring the jetpacks back and make the game fast paced again.

Steam gives no way to review the Windows version and the Linux version separately, so I have to review both here. One is positive and one is negative, so I'll just give the whole review a positive vote and drop both reviews here.

The game works really good on Arch Linux out of the box. Compared to the Windows version, it has absolutely no mouse problems at all and the mouse sensitivity is consistent, as opposed to the Windows version. When you're strafing, it won't shoot at crosshair position but , since mouse movements work properly, it's manageable by just aiming slightly off the enemy depending on the direction you're moving.

Really love the gameplay on its own, it's really fun, and the game itself is very smooth and runs flawlessly.

It's been a while since I reviewed a product but I have to do this out of frustration. I actually got this as a Christmas gift, and it's been a very very very long while since I tried a fps with such a poor feel. The sensitivity is broken because it always varies as if there was some kind of broken accel and sometimes it won't shoot at crosshair position, especially while you're strafing. I don't know if it's due to the port or something but, being an experienced fps player, especially in regards of arena fps games, I just cannot suggest playing this game as the feel is broken. If you can maybe find a different port and implement it into the game then it's probably worth it, but as it is on Steam, hell no.

I feel like saying yes to this game, even though it's not perfect.

I really love the graphics and the smoothness of the game, but gameplay left me puzzled and confused about what developers/designers really wanted to do.

If the goal was actually creating a realistic rally game, I guess they failed. I've driven many rally cars in real life (and I do from time to time) and they don't feel so floaty and delayed and, especially, they don't fly away to moon once you touch an insect with your wheel.

Other than that, there are actual leaderboards that can be apparently cheated by using Steam Workshop mods and other cheats. I've seen some blatantly cheated scores, even in my friendlist, but I won't really blame them since they probably just installed some mod from the workshop and played normally without even knowing.

Other than that, the game is actually fun if you want to challenge yourself into some weird driving. I would say it's "competitive" as long as you just care about clean driving (as in not crashing/touching anything) and taking advantage of your vehicle's positive sides to get to the finish line within the least time possible, and without mods. Leaderboards can't be trusted.
